BBC Booster Message
Bridgewater families!
This year we are excited to partner with Booster for our annual Fun Run. On May 4th we will be kicking off a 2 weeklong program that will lead up to our Fun Run event on May 14th. Our students will be gathering pledges from sponsors before they run 30-35 laps to help our school.
Our goal is to raise $25,000 for new outdoor basketball court (facelift/update of the old one) & On-Site Field Trip(s). Donating will open on April 20th and here is how you can help.
- REGISTER your student(s) on funrun.com today. It takes 30 seconds!
- SHARE with 5 family/friends using the SHARE tools on funrun.com (Facebook, Text Message or Email) Students will earn rewards just for sharing from funrun.com.
- GIVE a donation if you are able to give.

SAVE THE DATE!
Thank you for working with us to make our school stronger. We are grateful for your support!
On May 4th we are kicking off our Bridgewater Fun Run Fundraiser, and we are excited to announce that all of our students will be able to participate in the fun at school or home! Starting on April 20th, families can register on FunRun.com and start collecting pledges for the fun run. We have a goal to raise $25,000 for new Outdoor Basketball Hoops & On-Site Field Trip(s).
Here is what you can expect from the program:
- On May 4th the program will start with a digital pep rally that students will watch at school or at home.
- Then May 5th-May 13th your student(s) will watch a daily video all about teamwork, courage, care, grit, and celebration.
- Finally, we will celebrate our hard work of fundraising with a Fun Run and a Dance Fit for our Portage families!
The Fun Run will be outside and each grade will run at the same time; however, each class will be on a separate track (like a cloverleaf). In the event of inclement weather, then the event will be converted to a Dance Fit (like the video game Just Dance) and will be done in each individual classroom.
We are working with Superintendent Hillmann, the MN Dept. of Health & the MN Dept. of Education about whether or not friends & family will be permitted to attend - socially distanced - and cheer on the students.
Be on the lookout for more information to come from our Friday S'mores newsletters!
You can help our school by registering your student on funrun.com, starting April 20th, then share your student's pledge link with friends and family. If your family is not able to give at this time that is OKAY. Sharing your student's pledge link is still supporting our school.
We are grateful for our amazing community!

Earth Day
Earth Day is on April 22nd. This is a great opportunity for all of us to look for ways that we can care for and protect our earth. Simple habits such as recycling and composting can make a big difference.
Severe Weather Awareness
This week was Severe Weather Awareness Week. The state conducted a tornado drill on Thursday. Due to state testing, we will practice our drill later this month. More information is available at www.severeweather.state.mn.us if you would like more details. Please make sure that you have a home plan as well, and practice this with your children so they are prepared.

STEM Mystery Bag Challenge on Zoom
For elementary-aged kids. What will be in your mystery bag? Using recyclables, odds & ends, scissors, and tape (all supplies provided), build something to solve the design challenge posed on a card in your bag. Each bag has a different challenge. Then, share your challenge and show and tell us about what you engineered to solve it on Zoom! Program limited to 16 kids (adults are welcome to attend alongside them!) Please register at mynpl.org/events and pick up your mystery bag at the children’s desk sometime between April 12 and April 20. This will give you time to construct your solution before the April 24 program!
