Matanzas Elementary School
a path forward
Hello Matanzas Families,
I wanted to reach out to you and introduce myself as your new principal and connect before the beginning of this upcoming school year. 2020 has brought us all more unknowns than we expected, were prepared for, or wanted and the path forward isn't clear. Yet, what is clear is that the Matanzas school staff, and the Rincon Valley District staff are all working together to give our students and school community as much normalcy as possible come fall.
As we all learn to live with uncertainties in a rapidly changing environment please know that I am excited to be here and ready to take us through this next school year. Though I am new to the Matanzas Elementary community, I have been in Rincon Valley School District since 2014, all of which have been on the Matanzas campus at the middle school as both a teacher and assistant principal. I come to you with 16 years of being an educator; a decade of that was in elementary school, and I am grateful daily that I get to be a part of children's lives and a school community. I have two of my own; one who is entering kindergarten in the district, and even with all of this, my husband and I know he will be in the best hands.
Know that whether you chose Blended Learning, Remote Learning, or Home School; all our students are Matanzas Dolphins. We will take care them academically by meeting them where they are, do all we are able in order to address their social needs, and always have your child's best interest at the core of what we do. This year will likely present a number of challenges, but please know that the health and safety of our students and staff is the top priority.
I do not pretend to have all the answers; I will listen, and I promise to do my best to support everyone as we navigate the unknown. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or information you may like to share. As I said before, I am thrilled to be at Matanzas and I look forward to meeting you and your children this upcoming school year.
Be on the lookout for updates from the District Office and from me regarding back to school. Until then, we will continue to prepare, work & learn. And no matter what, I have no doubt that we will come through Dolphin Strong!
