One Book One School- From Mrs. Plew
It’s kick-off time! Get ready, get set, read!
Sunday, May 10th we will start our One book One school titled “A Boy called Bat”. Through the one school one book program, our goal is to build a community of readers which includes students, parents, teachers, and other school staff. We are personally asking you to make time in your nightly schedule for your family to participate in this special event, read one chapter a night and having a family discussion each chapter. The benefits of reading aloud to your children are remarkable, even to those who are old enough to read by themselves. Not only will these nightly reading sessions enrich the literacy skills of your children, but they will also promote family closeness.
In a nutshell, this is how the OBOS will work. Each week you will receive a link with 5 chapters recorded on audio or you can go to getepic.com and use your classroom code to read “A Boy Called Bat”. Families will read one chapter a night. The following morning students can go on Seesaw and answer the morning trivia question.
This short and sweet chapter book will not take us very long to finish and since it’s so late in the school year we thought it would be a perfect book to wrap up the school year as a community. So Hornets let’s get this book started! A Boy Called Bat Chapters 1-5
It's time to order yearbooks!
** FIFTH GRADE FAMILIES**
Since you don't get a traditional send-off this year, the PTO wants to help you celebrate the end of your elementary school years. They have very generously purchased each 5th grader one copy of the yearbook, so please DO NOT place an order unless you are purchasing additional copies beyond the one for your 5th grader.
**EVERYONE ELSE**
For everyone else, since we can't sell yearbooks in person the way we typically do, all yearbook sales will be done online at https://commpe.pictavo.com/
From there, choose "Oregon", "Beaverton", and "Errol Hassell" to reach the ordering page. Yearbooks are $15.75 and will be delivered to the school. We will be setting a day/time where you can pick them up once we know when they'll be delivered.
Yearbooks MUST be pre-ordered this year by May 29th. There will not be any extras available for last minute/in-person sales since they will only print the exact number that are pre-ordered.
5th Grade Send-Off- Saturday, June 13, 11am Please Read!!
Please help get the word out to your neighbors about this event.

Emotional Support Around COVID-19
As Oregon continues to fight the COVID-19 Pandemic, people need help, resources, or just someone to talk to. SafeOregon, the 24/7 statewide school safety tip line, is here for you. We will continue to provide 24/7 services for Oregonians to confidentially report student safety concerns (suicidal ideation/thoughts, cyberbullying, child abuse, drug/alcohol abuse, etc.) and will pass this information to school personnel and law enforcement (when necessary).
We have added additional student and adult crisis line resources to our SafeOregon website.
