Principals Message
Dear Parents,
Welcome Fall! Thank you, parents, for taking the time to join your teachers during Parent-Teacher Conferences and learn all about your student successes. Our teachers have been working diligently for the last year on the instructional approach of Guided Reading.
"In guided reading, books are selected from a collection organized along a gradient of difficulty so that readers may experience texts that help them learn more. Within each level, there will be a variety of genres in order to build readers’ ability to adjust reading strategies."
- Here are some ways that parents and caregivers can support their children at home:
- Listen to books that their children bring home
- Read books aloud to their children
- Talk about books together
- Go to the library
- Encourage children t write for authentic purposes (such as a grocery list, a letter or directions)
- Sing songs together
- Recite nursery rhymes together
Thank you for all that you do to encourage your student's success!
Gracias,
Olga Venegas, Principal
