May Newsletter

From the Desk of Mr. Coakley

The nice weather has finally arrived! It is hard to believe that we are in the 4th quarter, which signifies the final stretch of this school year. It is exciting to see the students working hard and meeting their goals. I encourage the students to keep working hard and finish strong!

The month of May honors three very important groups of individuals that make education possible: Teachers, Nurses, and the Transportation department. Please take a moment to thank these people for everything they do each and every day for your child(ren). I truly believe that Malone Central has the best Teachers, Nurses, and Bus drivers in the area. Thank you for everything you do.

There is a lot planed for the month of May, so please take a look at the list of events. As usual please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for all you do for your children.

Home School Coordinator

Dear Parent(s), Staff, and Student(s),

I am the Home School Coordinator for Flanders and St. Joseph’s Elementary Schools, also referred to as the Parent Facilitator. I also hold some responsibilities at Holy Family School.

This year I have had the pleasure of meeting many parents and students. My main role in this position is to serve as the liaison between parents and teachers.

Throughout the year I have:

*Met with parents on an individual basis to discuss their child’s needs and assist with

completing necessary paperwork to put various supports in place.

*Participated in 504 and IST meetings to discuss the progress and future plans for

individual children.

*Provided necessary school supplies, winter attire and clothing to students in need of

such.

*Enrolled students in the Back Pack Program which currently serves 98 students.

*Facilitated and Supervised the 5-week Grades 3-5 afterschool Titus program which we

had 73 participants in this school year.

*Referred families to appropriate community agencies for services or assistance.

I look forward to expanding my interactions with parents, students and staff as I

continue my work with these schools.

My current schedule is 7:15am to 11:00am at St. Joseph’s and then 11:15am to

2:45pm at Flanders.

I can be reached at 518-483-7806 ( St. Joseph’s) or 518-483-7803 (Flanders). You

are welcome to call me at either school about your needs. Please feel free to leave a message and I will return your call as soon I get it. I can also be reached via email which I can access at either building. My email address is lgarland@maloneschools.org.

Respectfully,

Laurie Garland

The Nurse's Office

Just a reminder to parents of students in 5th grade. Your child will need immunization prior to entering 6th grade. I have mailed a reminder home to any student that needs to be immunized. New York State mandates children in Kindergarten, grade 1, grade 3, and grade 5 have a physical. If your child has had a physical this year after September 6th and you did not have physician fax a copy to me, please do so. The physical will be good for students entering the above mentioned grade levels next year. If your child has any medical conditions, please notify me in the health office at 518-483-7803, ext 2, or send email to: kpremo@maloneschools.org Thank you!
