Homecoming Parade
The 2023 Westminster Public Schools Homecoming Parade has a new “family-friendly” route that will bring people into the Westminster Arts district along 73rd Avenue.
Grab a blanket or lawn chair, take advantage of the local coffee and donut shops and join WPS families for the parade which begins at 10 a.m. The stretch of 73rd Avenue between Bradburn Blvd and Meade St includes plenty of park space and a sculpture garden.
As in years past, all WPS schools have been invited to participate and this year’s Hollywood-inspired theme of “Dancing with the Stars” should make for some fantastic floats and costumes.
Homecoming Spirit week
We always love seeing everyone in all their fun spirit day gear!
- Monday: Pajama Day, wear your favorite school appropriate PJ's, no slippers or stuffed animals please.
- Tuesday: Twin Day, dress the same as someone else
- Wednesday: Come on Barbie, Let’s go Barbie: Wear pink
- Thursday: Jersey Day: Wear your favorite jersey
- Friday: Puma Pride Day: Show your Puma Pride by wearing your Puma gear or school colors (Red, Black & Gold)
Library
Each student will come to library once per week with their class.
If your student has an unreturned or lost books from last year they must return the book or pay the lost book fee before they can checkout any new books this year.

Field Day
Join us for Field Day on Monday October 2, 2023!
- Pre-k-2nd will be in the morning on the field by the kindergarten playground from 8:15-10 am.
- Levels 3-5 will be on the large field by the horseshoe pit/large playground from 12:45-230pm.
Students should wear comfortable clothes they do not mind getting dirty.
Parents and families are welcome to attend.
If the weather cancels the event, it will be postponed to the following day.

WPS District Accountability Advisory Council (DAAC)
Dear Friends and Family of Orchard Park Academy:
If you want to learn more about WPS, meet a variety of district officials, share information with your school community, and get to know engaged parents from schools across the District, we hope you consider applying for the 2023-2024 WPS District Accountability Advisory Council (DAAC).
WPS DAAC will allow you and other community members to expand your knowledge of our District’s mission, operations, and strategic priorities and provide your insights. You will leave the program with a solid understanding of the business and governance side of the educational system, providing you with the leadership skills to be a more engaged community member. This will be an invaluable learning opportunity.
We are accepting applications now until September 25th. Depending on the applicant pool size, all applicants may not be taken into this year’s program. Every effort will be made to ensure that all parents and guardians can become engaged in their school and/or District.

Chromebook Protection plan
Time is running out to purchase the Chromebook Protection plan!!
All Chromebook Protection plans must be paid for my October 1, 2023!!
The Chromebook Protection Plan is an optional insurance plan you can purchase for $50 per student per year. This covers the Chromebook & Charger incase of accidental damage. It does not cover loss or intentional damage.
If you purchase the Protection plan the 1st incidence is covered 100%, the 2nd incidence is covered at 50% and the 3rd and subsequent incidences are not covered.
The cost of a damaged or lost Chromebook with no protection plan is $220 and a lost or damaged charger is $50.

Attendance Challenge
September is Attendance Awareness Month!
To continue to celebrate our students, we are excited to start a few attendance challenges next week:
Weekly Attendance Challenge
The class (first hour) with the highest percentage of attendance for the week will win a donut party, 10 puma points per student in the class, and the traveling puma.
Monthly Attendance Challenge
The class (first hour) with the highest percentage of attendance for the entire month will win a breakfast party (think breakfast burritos, Mcdonald's breakfasts),10 puma points per student, and the coveted traveling attendance trophy.
Reminder: Because attendance is so crucial to your student's academic success, please send your child to school every day unless he or she has a contagious illness or is running a fever. Absences will only be excused with documentation from medical professionals and scenarios approved by the principal.

Panorama survey
The Panorama survey will be administered to our Levels 3-8 students starting on September 26th.
We will be asking your child to answer questions related to their social-emotional well-being and skills. Their responses will provide valuable insights into their experiences and how we can improve and adapt our district to their needs.
