Last Call - Spanish Club Sign Up - Deadline 9/24

There are still some openings for Spanish Club (meets on Mondays from 10/1 through 4/15):

  • 8:05-8:35 AM - Beginner Class ($200)
  • 3:30-4:15 PM - Advanced Class ($225)

Last Call - Classroom Social Volunteers - Meeting on 9/25

If you are interested in helping to plan or attend your child’s classroom socials, please be sure to complete the Hands Across the District Form (link to online sign up here). An informational meeting will be held September 25 at 7:00pm in the library for all classroom social volunteers. If you have any questions, please contact Colleen Kurtz at

Last Call - Hands Across the District - Deadline 9/28

Want to help plan the Home and School FUNDRAISERS this year? We are looking for people with fresh ideas to help organize new and interesting fundraising activities.

FIFTH GRADE PARENTS - we are looking for volunteers to help plan end of the year activities for our fifth grade students as they prepare to move on from Vernfield.

These and many more opportunities to volunteer can be found in this 'Hands Across the District' volunteer information and online sign-up! Please take 5 minutes to look through and sign up for opportunities to help out throughout the school year! THIS FORM INCLUDES HOMEROOM SOCIAL VOLUNTEERS! If you are unsure about when you might be available or what you can do, sign up anyway! Signing up allows you to get emails regarding the committee/event, and there is no pressure to participate! A list of committees can be found on the Home & School website.

The deadline to sign up is Friday, September 28.

Vernfield Printed Directory - Deadline 10/5

Vernfield Home & School Association publishes a PRINTED school directory for each new school year which includes class lists and student contact information. The directory will ONLY be distributed to those families who complete the form requesting inclusion.

Please complete the online form by FRIDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2018. Only one form per family is required.

Big Blue Blocks

Big Blue Blocks have arrived at Vernfield! Home & School has purchased a set of 100+ creative play blocks made by Imagination Playground that will be making their way to the playground in the next few weeks.

Students have spent the last several weeks of Physical Education class learning how to use and care for the blocks - thank you, Mr. Gross!

Imagination Playground is an innovative play system that transforms any space into a play space that encourages learning, social development, movement, and of course, fun!

**Deadline for Student Image and Work Consents (deadline Sept 28)**

The District has recently revised its policy and guidelines for the use of student images and the publication of student work. Please review these guidelines and indicate your consent for the use of your student’s images and publication of his/her work. Log into the Home Access Center to grant or deny consent:

**Clearning the Air About Vaping (Oct 9, 6:30pm)**

An informational event is scheduled at IVMS for parents about vaping, or the use of e-cigarettes or other electronic devices which simulate smoking. Click here to register (recommended, but not required). See the event flyer for more information.
