FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 10

Greetings Hawks!

What a great week! It is so exciting to have students on campus and ready to learn. Thank you parents for your patience and flexibility these first couple of days. Yesterday was smoother than Wednesday and today almost feels like we're in a routine already.

One of the areas that went smoother yesterday was our lunchtime. We are finally getting to serve food from the new cafeteria and it feels fantastic, another step towards normalcy.

It has been a great start and we are looking forward to a fantastic year. Thanks again families for working with us, we greatly appreciate the partnership.

Sincerely,

Curt D. Shenk

PROCEDURES FOR DROP OFF & PICK UP

Parents, thanks again for all of you who have been patient with this process. I know Wednesday was a slow process, but it will get better as we all get used to the routine. This morning’s drop-off wait time saw a drastic reduction and the whole process went significantly smoother. We ask once again to not use the church parking lot for drop off and pick up. Their parking lot is private property and we want to honor their request.

Following are some other recommendations that we believe will help make both times of the day calm events. It's important to arrive at the times listed below according to grade level. By doing so, we can assure that pickup will happen quickly and efficiently.

DROP OFF

  1. As you are in line waiting to unload, have your child prepare to exit the car by getting unbuckled, put on their mask, and gather their backpack.
  2. Follow staff guidance as they direct traffic to pull forward as much as possible.
  3. If possible, have your child exit the driver side of the vehicle.
  4. We ask that parents stay in the car and request staff assistance if your child needs help exiting the vehicle
  5. Practice quick loving good-byes.

VEHICLE PICKUP - KINDER - 2ND GRADES

This is for families who are ONLY picking up children who are in Kinder, 1st, & 2nd grade.

Arrive between 2:10PM -- 2:25 PM

Follow staff guidance as they direct traffic to pull forward as much as possible.

VEHICLE PICKUP - 3RD - 5TH GRADES

Arrive between 2:25 PM -- 2:35 PM

If you have a younger sibling to pickup, please arrive at this later time.

Follow staff guidance as they direct traffic to pull forward as much as possible.

WALKING PICKUP

There will be two locations for families that walk to pick up their children from school. If you will be walking with your child off campus every day, we ask that you follow the directions below. We will be working on having children go to these locations as they exit the campus.

Walking in and out from LaLoma Street

  1. Follow arrival times listed above by grade level.
  2. Stay on sidewalk at all times (Do not walk across parking lot).
  3. Students will be waiting on the Bench outside the front office. Please pick them up from a staff member at that location.

Walking in and out from Juanipero Street

  1. Follow arrival times listed above by grade level.
  2. Stay on sidewalk at all times.
  3. Wait at Gate 1 and ask Mrs. Ridgeway (or a Staff member) to release your child.

SCHOOL BULLETIN THROUGH POWERSCHOOL

Did you know that you can request email notifications for the school bulletin through your Powerschool Parent account? To set it up, follow the steps listed below:

Click on the link to login ----> POWERSCHOOL LOGIN

Log in to your Powerschool Parent account using your username and password that was setup to register your student.

Upon logging in, click on the menu item EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS and check the box next to SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS.

Then set the frequency for the emails -- daily, weekly, monthly, etc. Weekly is usually sufficient for this information. Hit SUBMIT.

At the elementary level, we do not do progress reports so notifications will not work for that option. It's primarily meant for middle & high school. If a student is tardy to class (anything past 7:50 am is tardy), the teacher will mark them absent and then the office will confirm that they were tardy.
