It's Teacher Appreciation Week
(One Week Isn't Enough to Show Our Appreciation for You)
Dear TCS Teachers,
One week in May is not sufficient to celebrate teachers, especially not TCS teachers!
You hold high expectations.
Every day, because of you, we are seeing expectations change. Our classrooms are places where critical thinking is taking place, where students are engaged, and where students are being challenged at new levels. As a TCS teacher, you are driving with a relentless professionalism to make sure each child under your care is advancing academically. Even during this crisis, you refused to let our students stop learning at high levels. Thank you for holding high expectations.
You are making an impact.
Look at what is happening in the TCS. Our student outcomes are changing. We are experiencing never before seen increases in academic outcomes. If you need data, look at our report card where we have increased each year, look at our early reading data that is proving every child can learn at high levels, and look at our College and Career Readiness rate getting closer to our graduation rate. You are not giving up on any child and you are making sure each and every student of this system is successful. This school system, because of you, is on its way to becoming the premier school system that is in our vision. Thank you for making sure our students grow academically.
You care.
You love our children and care for them beyond measure. I love seeing how much our TCS teachers care, support and love our students. You demonstrate time and time again how you make sure your students know you love them first so that they can learn from you. I observe this culture of care in so many of my classrooms observations throughout this system. Our students are fortunate that you chose this profession and that you chose the TCS. Thank you for caring for our children.
You are loved and appreciated.
The TCS Board of Education, the City of Tuscaloosa, and all of us thank you so much for your service to our 11,000 students.
Thanks for being a teacher! Thanks for being a teacher in the TCS! You are making one of the largest investments a person can make into the future of our community and country by doing what you do. You are shaping the minds of our future, and our 11,000 students are better because of you.
