3rd Grade Balloons Over Broadway.
Puster Families,
It's the most wonderful time of the year! This week our 3rd grade RLA classes culminated a unit study of the book Balloons Over Broadway. This is an amazing book about the inventor of the giant balloons seen flying over Broadway during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Today, our 3rd grade students will visit the Allen Philharmonic Concert. They were SO dressed up and ready for this special event this morning!
This afternoon, our Puster PTO will be handing out pies and thankful letters to our staff. This is such a special tradition in our community. I still have ALL of my letters from all of my years in Lovejoy. I'll come across them from time to time (usually when I'm supposed to be cleaning or organizing) and revisit the envelopes of love. Thank you for this gift to our staff! Also, to kick off the holiday season, our 1st graders are performing a little turkey music program this afternoon,. It's sure to be adorable and amazing.
Tomorrow, our staff will participate in professional development that will further our understanding of the PLC framework and how to best meet the needs of all students. Friday, they will take advantage of a Teacher Planning Day to finish parent teacher conferences and catch up on independent and team planning needs. Both Thursday and Friday are student holidays.
In the spirit of the season, please allow me to share my heart - I am sincerely grateful to have the privilege of leading this amazing campus of staff and students and to be a part of our Puster community. Puster truly is a special place to be. THANK YOU to each of you for entrusting us with your children and for partnering with us during the first years of their school careers!
Have a wonderful break and we will look forward to seeing our students at 7:50 on Monday, 11/27.
Puster Proud,
Holly

Congratulations!
Grace Silva: 2nd Grade
Grace is a positive asset at Puster. She always contributes to problem solving discussions meaningfully with a mind geared towards solutions. She has a deep understanding of her students and is responds to their needs with a great level of expertise. Grace makes great contributions to her team. Often, Grace will surprise others with a little note of encouragement or a tasty treat she baked up over the weekend. She is an "uplifter" and we are thankful for the value she adds at Puster.
Carrie Gonzalez: Student Nutrition/Cafeteria Manager
Carrie runs an incredibly well functioning cafeteria - you would never know if she was short a person or had an issue with equipment or lunch counts. Beyond that and more importantly, Carrie knows every student by name and even attends their events on the weekends. Just a few moments with a student in her cafe line brings smiles to their faces as she always asks them personal questions that make them feel cared for. Carrie is an integral part in the positive culture we have at Puster and a key adult in the lives of our Puster kids.
Attendance
Lunch Visitors
Parents are welcome to visit their child(ren) for lunch any day. We ask that you eat with your child only (no friends) at either a back table in the cafeteria or outside in the courtyard/picnic area. Please follow the check in procedures below when joining us for lunch.
Marie Cloud: K-3 GT and Ariel Stewart: LMS
Marie and Ariel are a power team duo and some of the best little silent superheroes. They work behind the scenes to take care of others around them and never say a word about it. I don’t think anyone truly realizes what all they do and they never take credit for any of it. They do it out of the kindness in their hearts and WITHOUT being asked!!! 😉 So here is a shout out to Marie and Ariel!! We are so thankful for the both of you!!!! You are both genuinely appreciated and loved!!!!
Ashleigh Delizza: 2nd Grade Teacher Resident
Miss Delizza is absolutely amazing!!! You’d never guess she is a student intern, she carries herself with such grace and always goes above and beyond for everyone around her. She comes into work everyday and gives her best effort in everything she does. She builds strong relationships with all of our students and has a heart of gold!! She is ALWAYS willing to jump in and help wherever and whenever!! She is such a blessing to our ENTIRE 2nd grade team and we couldn’t imagine this year without her!!! We are so lucky to have her with us all at Puster!!

Notes from Mrs. Schirf
Puster Parents,
There has been an increased amount of student tardiness in the last few weeks. Most if not all of the tardy students are being dropped off by car right at 7:49-7:51. Instruction begins promptly at 7:50 each day. We don't like to see students come in late, as it really impacts the way their day begins when they are still unpacking and the class is moving on. We encourage you to take advantage of the shorter drop off lines earlier in the arrival window of 7:30-7:50.
If you do happen to find yourself running late and a staff member is not outside to open the car door for your child, you will need to park in the front of the building and walk your child into the front office so we can safely account for them. For safety reasons, please don't have your child walk themselves into the building after 7:50.
Notes from the Library
2,265 titles have circulated so far this month!
Morning Announcements: 4th graders wanted to be on the PES morning announcements broadcast!

Don't want to be on camera but still interested? There are a few opportunities to just work behind the scenes as well, adjusting and updating slides, images

Notes from Officer Emory
Good Afternoon Puster Families,
This is your School Marshal, Steven Emory.
This month I would like to share with you some safety tips for gun safety.
Many of you have friearms at home. I just wanted to share some safety tips.
5 firearm rules:
Always Keep Firearm Pointed in a Safe direction
Treat All Guns as Though They are Loaded
Keep Your Finger Off the Trigger until You are Ready to Shoot
Always Be Sure of Your Target and What’s Beyond It
Never handle a firearm under the influence of drugs or alcohol
Keep your guns in a safe or out of the reach of children.
Keep your ammo in a different location than your guns.
Kids die from accidental shootings every year. Most can be prevented by teaching kids gun safety and taking the mystery out of firearms. Even if you don't have a firearm at home I bet one of your kid's friends parents have firearms in their home.

Thank you for helping us to make Puster a safe environment for our students and staff. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
Have a great rest of your week,
Steven Emory,
PES School Marshal
Nurse Jenn's Note
Sick Policy Reminder:
Puster Parents, please keep your student home if they have had a fever, vomited, or had diarrhea within 24 hrs of coming to school so that we can keep our Puster Family safe and healthy.
Thank you!

Dear Lovejoy Visual Art families,
I hope that you are getting ready for a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with your family and friends. As we get ready for the holiday season I wanted to make sure that you mark your calendars to visit the Lovejoy Fine Arts Festival, from Nov. 27th - Dec. 5th. This is a change in our tradition, as in the past we have centered our celebration around a single day. This year each program will be showcasing students on different days to better highlight and honor the incredible work of our kids! This year instead of having a single work from every student in different locations through LHS for a single day, we are aiming to grow the celebration of our artists' creative voices by hosting individual showcases at each campus in the Spring. This will allow us to better showcase and celebrate all of the incredible artwork and processes our students create throughout the school year!
For this year's week-long Fine Arts Festival, we are excited to invite you to join us for the K-12 Art Evolution Exhibition. This showcase of selected student work (all parents of artists selected for this exhibit have been notified) highlights the student voice, problem-solving, and incredible range of experiences that take place in our K-12 Lovejoy art studios every day. This beautifully-curated exhibition of selected student work will be on display in the Lovejoy Gallery Nov. 27 - Dec.1 between 5- 8 pm. We would love for you to join us for the opening of this incredible exhibit on Nov. 30th 5-8 pm. As part of the celebration of the artistic journey through our K-12 studios, we will have live music performed by the Lovejoy Orchestra and a hot chocolate and cookie bar. We hope that you can join us for this special exhibit of over 130 artists!

Please invite all of your family and friends to join us for the celebration! If you cannot attend the exhibit's official opening on the 30th, please feel free to visit the exhibition from Nov. 27 - Dec.1 between 5- 8. Keep your eyes out for invites to Campus Showcases in the Spring so you and your family can join us in the celebration of every student at each LISD campus! See the attached schedule of events for the 23/24 Fine Arts Festival so that you and your family can join in the celebration!
