A Message From the Superintendent
Over the past two decades, Texans have referred to our economy as the Texas Miracle. Every year we have thousands of new residents move to Texas in order to become part of the Texas Miracle. Our economy is something our Governor takes great pride in. Two weeks ago, Governor Abbott put the brakes on our economy by signing an executive order halting non-essential portions of our economy. If you are unsure whether the threat of the Coronavirus is real for Texas, I hope his actions make it clear to all of us that this threat is real in every community. The next time you hear your high school classmate stating on Facebook that we are overreacting, I hope you consider the actions of our Governor and the advice from health officials to stay at home and maintain social distancing standards.
It has been an incredible sight to see our community come together over the past two weeks. Given the current circumstances, I believe we are all pulling together and making the best of a very difficult situation. Governor Abbott did extend his executive order through the end of April. The earliest we could possibly return to school would be May 4th.
I hope everyone is able to tune into our campus Facebook live announcements every morning. This is a great way for students and parents to remain in contact with their campus. We will continue to serve breakfast and lunch from the Primary campus and Leaders Core Park from 11:00-12:30. Beginning next week will only serve Monday through Thursday. On Thursday we will hand out meals for Thursday and Friday for children under the age of 18. We are asking that when you pick up your meal that you now get out of your car in order to grab your meal. I want to make sure that our cafeteria workers are able to maintain a six foot distance with the families they are serving.
Please take a minute and read a message from our Mayor, Andy Mack.
