Front Drive Reminders

Please remember that the front parking lot is not a drop-off location at any point, especially in the mornings. If you want to use the front entrance of the school in the mornings, you must park and walk your child into the gym or their classroom. This is for the safety of all our visitors. Since parking is very limited in the front, I encourage you to use one of the two drop-off locations in the back - Travis Drive and Civic Drive. Staff members are posted at both drop-off locations to assist your child out of the car and into the building. Thank you for your help!

The contest started Sept. 11th and runs through Nov. 10th. Please make sure to send your student's box tops to the classroom. Your student's teacher will submit all the box tops at the end of the contest so they can be counted and the winners announced. Last year we raised $631 with the Box Tops for Education Program. UIL 2018 Pep Rally

It's almost that time of year to form UIL teams for the 2018 UIL District Meet on January 26, 2018 in Florence. We were District Champs last year and want to make it a repeat in January. UIL events are open to any 2nd - 5th grader. To kick things off we will have a Pep Rally on September 27th during 2nd and 3rd grade lunches. Our awesome UIL Coordinator, Cathy Evans, will be there to talk about the different events and introduce coaches. 2nd and 3rd graders who are interested in trying out for one of the UIL events will be able to sign up after the Pep Rally. More information will come home in Friday folders on September 22nd.

Counselor's Corner

Hello LVES Families! In this month’s guidance lessons, students are learning the character trait of Responsibility. Do you feel your child shows responsibility in their words and actions? It is one skill I am happy to help students with, so if you feel like your child needs help with an age-appropriate responsibility they haven’t quite grasped yet, please let me know. One way I am able to help is through Lunch Bunches with small groups of students who have similar needs. Lunch Bunch can be an opportunity to focus on topics that we may not get a chance to discuss during class lessons, and I can create groups based on specific needs that students have, such as: dealing with anxiety, learning good manners, social skills, self confidence, or following rules, to name a few. If you think your child would benefit from a lunch bunch and have a specific topic in mind that would help them, please email or call me and let me know. Thank you! or (512) 267-8300 ext. 4504.
