Principal's Update
Brent Elementary Weekly Newsletter
April 3rd
I hope that my newsletter finds you all well and healthy. In the newsletter, you will find several important pieces of information so please read to the end. My plan is to continue sending out my weekly newsletter to stay connected and provide any updates as I receive them. Send pictures of what you're doing at home, and I'll share here or on our Facebook page.
As we venture into a new journey together, I'd like to encourage you to consider the phrases home-school vs home-learning. We have a unique opportunity to connect with our own families, discover new interests, or try new things. While the school content is important, so is exploring interests. They're just as important as school learning. I know that our kids will recover from this! I know they will be successful! They will grow up to be doctors, ballerinas, teachers, or whatever their hearts desire. When we look back at this time, I want our community to be encouraged by the support we gave each other, the ways that we stay connected through social media, and what we explored. Take the time to enjoy the time. Less is more.
Please take care of your families. Hug your kids. We certainly miss them.
All the best,
Ms. Baker
Brent Elementary: Guided by One Goal
During this time of so many unknowns, we as a Brent Community have one goal: to create a structure for remote learning that cares for the social-emotional and learning needs of our students.
We are guided by the beliefs that:
simple is better
Maslow before Bloom
consistency is a priority
practicality helps keep all of us from becoming overwhelmed
Remote Learning Plan
Our remote learning will continue due to the order from Governer Dewine until at least May 1st. While the remainder of the school year is uncertain, we have added a component to our remote learning plan. In each classroom at Brent, students start the day with a Morning Meeting. Continuing these meetings provides a sense of normalcy for our students and team members. Classroom teachers will be in touch to schedule these meetings. For the assigned academic work, you can access the directions through the buttons below.
