Read Across America Week!
February 29 - March 4
Our special week is coming soon!
What can YOU do for this week?
*Participate in the Spirit Week!
Flyers will be sent home soon, but a quick sneak peek at each dress up day:
Monday (29th): READing shirt - pick your best shirt that shows alphabets, letters, positive reading messages, book characters, and more to celebrate reading!
Tuesday (1st): Crazy Hat/Hair Day: wear your crazy Seuss hat, Seuss up your hair, or just come up with something crazy of your own!
Wednesday (2nd): In celebration of Dr. Seuss's birthday, it's DRESS AS YOUR FAVORITE SEUSS CHARACTER DAY! To celebrate all who dress up and to show off our Seussy attitudes, we'll be parading around the school with our costumes! More details below!
Thursday (3rd): Wear Your Grinchiest Green!
Friday (4th): Relax like a llama in your pajamas!
*Of course, be sure to read more about Dr. Seuss and other favorite authors in your classroom read aloud during the week! There are some great authors out there who have been inspired by Dr. Seuss or reflect his zaniness in their own work: Shel Silverstein, Jerry Spinelli, Dan Gutman, Jim Benton, Bill Martin, Eric Carle, and more! Not sure what to read? Stop by the library and get inspired by one of the books in our window display!
What ELSE is planned for the week?
*estimate the amount of fish in the bowl (winners announced at Fox Summit on Friday)
*fun Seussy photo booth in the library (feel free to come snap some pics of your own!)
*guess the quote bulletin board in the front atrium
*Reading incentive bookmarks
*Seussy charades
*create your own Seuss hat
and more!
Super Special Parade News!
At 2:20 on Wednesday, March 2nd, we'll be calling all students who dressed up to participate in our parade! Students will report to the library. At 2:30, everyone is invited to cheer on our participants outside their classroom as we parade by!
IDITAREAD
Each grade level is a team. Each team needs to track how many pages it reads each day. This includes independent reading, reading groups, and read alouds! Each student reader counts! Send an update each afternoon to Chrissy Youel and we'll update the board in the hallway outside the teacher workroom. Let's see who can race to the finish first!
PreK/Specials Team: Johnson, Peach, Cordone, Ruggles, Bright, Morrett
The race starts on February 29th! Are you ready?
