Bobcat Broadcast
December 18, 2020
A Message from Mrs. Caudill
Warmest thoughts and best wishes for a wonderful holiday and a Happy New Year. May peace, love, and prosperity follow you always. Whatever is beautiful, whatever is meaningful, whatever brings you happiness. May it be yours this holiday season and throughout the coming year.
At Amerman, we are excited to begin a new year. This year our goal is to continue helping our students learn all of the important things they will need to be successful learners! We are passionate about learning and everyone at Amerman; classroom teachers, specials teachers, building aides, custodians, and office staff, want you to know that we are committed to providing your child/children a positive and fun place to learn.
As a reminder we want you to Rest, Relax, Rejuvenate this holiday break! We believe school breaks should be just that - a brief reprieve from school responsibilities like homework, special projects, planning, and grading. It is a time to reconnect with loved ones without the stress of school work creeping in. I will be leading by example and there will be no Bobcat Broadcast the next two weeks due to Winter Break. Please look for a new Broadcast on Friday, January 8. I hope each of you have a relaxing break full of family, fun and togetherness.
If you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Warm Wishes,
Devon Caudill

UPDATED SYMPTOM SCREENING TOOL AND REMINDER
As we prepare for our return to in-person learning, please remember to screen your child each morning before school. The Wayne County Health Department has revised the COVID-19 Daily Student Symptom Screening Tool* based on guidance from MDHHS as we enter into the cold and flu season. The revised tool separates symptoms into two categories and asks if you have any new, unusual or worsening symptoms in those categories. Additionally, the form asks if you have been in close contact with anyone that is positive. If any response is yes, you must keep your child home and contact your school to report any symptoms and the absence. It is critical that children are screened at home EACH MORNING before coming to school. This process is what helps keep our students and staff safe in school and a primary contributor to allowing us to continue in-person learning for students.
*Important Note: The Wayne County Screening Tool is a COVID Symptom Screener, which is required in addition to, rather than in place of, the District's standard health requirements. Please DO NOT send children who are sick with a fever, are vomiting, have a rash, or any other evidence of illness to school. Students may not return to school following any illness until they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without use of fever reducing medications, or longer if subject to continued quarantine based on COVID guidelines.

January Focus: Fairness! Habit 4: Think Win-Win
Every month Amerman Focuses on a new theme and Leader in Me Habit of the Month. The focus for the month of January is Fairness and our Habit of the Month is Habit 4: Think Win-Win
This month’s Habit: Habit #4 - Think Win-Win- Everyone can Win!
What this means: Think about others as well as yourself. Long-term relationships require mutual respect and mutual benefit.
“I make deposits into others’ Emotional Bank Accounts.”
“When conflict arises, I look for third alternatives.”
“I balance courage for getting what I want, with
consideration for what others want.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. Live by the Golden Rule- Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.
Great Books for Habit #4- Think Win Win
The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister
Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes
Lilly’s Big Day by Kevin Henkes
Alexander and the Wind-Up Mouse by Leo Lionni
Let’s Be Enemies by Janice May Udry
I Wanna Iguana by Karen Kaufman Orloff
If you would like to recognize your child for being proactive or using Habit 4: Think Win-Win at home, please fill out the following Bobcat Boost and return it to your child's teacher.

Spotlight on our Amerman Bobcats
Holiday Gym Students this week participated in our annual holiday gym. Some activities had to be modified for Covid protocols, but they still had tons of fun! | Who stole Santa's Sleigh? Students in Ms. Pinkelman's class worked with a partner to solve a variety of math and logic puzzles to figure out who stole Santa's sleigh. | Reindeer Book Mrs. McMaster's kindergarteners are learning facts about reindeer. They made a reindeer book that looks like a reindeer. |
