Welcome, Daniel Russo!
We are thrilled to welcome our new principal, Dr. Daniel Russo, to the Bobcat family. Dr. Russo will officially start his role on July 1st, but you will see him around New Leb well before then! Dr. Russo is coming to meet our teachers & staff on Tuesday, May 16th, and plans to be at the Spaghetti Dinner (Saturday, May 20th) AND Field Day (Friday, June 9th) to meet our larger parent & family community - come say hello to him! Mrs. Michaelson and Dr. Russo will be working closely together during May and June on his transition to becoming your new principal. Welcome to the Bobcat family, Dr. Russo!
End of Year Surveys
On Friday you received an email with the subject line “Greenwich Public Schools Family Survey” from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Toni Jones via “k12insightllc.com” as an invitation to complete the annual GPS Family Survey, with a deadline of Friday, May 26. The survey should take less than five minutes to complete and you can choose to skip questions you do not want to answer. Your participation is critical feedback in the development of school and district strategic planning. The survey covers home/school connection, school fit, school safety, and student experience.
Students in grades 3-12 will also be asked to complete a brief 14-question confidential survey in school regarding their experience. If you DO NOT wish your children to participate in the Student Surveys, please complete the opt out online form by midnight tonight.
3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Families - SBA Continues next week with Math PERFORMANCE TASK taking place Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (if needed) mornings. Don't forget to...
- A good night's sleep
- A healthy breakfast, also available at school
- A sharp brain!
Placement for Next School Year
If you wish to provide information for our team to use in placing your child in a classroom next year, please send an email to Mrs. Michaelson at alexandra_michaelson@greenwich.k12.ct.us by May 19, 2022. While you cannot make requests for a particular teacher, please provide any information about what type of environment best suits your child's learning style. We do not keep a record of information from previous years, so if you had specific concerns from previous years please share them again. Questions? - Just reach out!

GPS Summer School Updates
2023 GPS Summer School will be in session from Monday, July 3rd through Friday, August 4th.
In addition to Extended School Year (ESY) services for all eligible PreK-12+ special education students, our summer programs will support academic support for invited K-8 students with priority needs in literacy and math. This year, we offer tutoring options in literacy or math for invited families who opt out of the full-day program. In addition to our academic support programs, we will hold Advanced Bridge Courses for middle school math students looking to accelerate their learning and Credit/Credit Recovery courses for GHS students.
Invited students will be notified by Saturday, April 1st via Parent Link. Families will be able to register using Family ID; links are provided in invitation letters. All registrations are due by Friday, May 19th for K-8 students.
More information regarding programming times, course descriptions, and registration can be found on the Greenwich Summer School Website.
