Holiday Music Program
Don't forget...Thursday, December 7 is the all School Christmas Concert is at UCHS beginning at 6:00 pm. Third grade students will perform at 7:00, but will need to report to the UCHS auditorium at 6:45. It would be best for parents to hang onto coats, hats, gloves, etc. while your student is performing. Please see that your child has used the restroom before reporting in for this long-awaited night of singing.
Holiday Gift Exchange
We will be having our holiday party on Wednesday, December 20th. We will be having a gift exchange for those students who choose to participate. Girls will be buying for girls, and boys for boys. Since your child will not know who will draw his/her name, please have your child sign the gift tag as follows: “To: A boy (or girl, if such is the case) From: (your child’s name).” Please try to limit your spending to $5.00 on the gift. Feel free to send your wrapped gift in whenever you’d like. If you do not wish for your child to participate or if you have any questions, please let me know.
Holiday Special Snack
On that same note...
On that last day before break, we will be having a special holiday snack. If you signed up for this special day (or if, perhaps, you signed up for "whatever" or "whenever), then I have sent you a confirmation in today's folder. If you did not receive this notification, then you can consider yourself "off the hook." Thanks so much for your donation!
Next Week's Share Topic
Christmas Wish: If you could make one wish for someone else, what would it be? Who would the wish be for and why? Consider things that money can’t do. Anything is possible with this wish. Give it some thought.
Help Needed!
We are only 44 ordered kits away from earning $$$ for LES. As you remember, Duke Energy is offering a FREE energy kit to our families. As an added bonus, Duke will award our school money for your participation. Remember, it is FREE and our school has the potential to earn up to $2,500. Click here to request your FREE kit. There is also a bookmark in today's folder with information for making the request by phone. You do not have to be a Duke Energy customer to participate. I've ordered and have already received my kit. Thank you, in advance, for helping the school--and yourselves--out in this way!
Student Council Food Drive
Beginning next week, December 4th, the LES student council will be sponsoring a canned food drive all week. As has been in the past, students may practice that featured LifeSkill of caring by bringing in non-perishable items for our local food pantry. This is also a healthy competition among the grade levels, and we want to win! I cannot think of a better way to share the holiday cheer!
Mastering the Math Facts
If your child still has not passed addition and/or subtraction for the 2.5 minute timing, then (s)he must be making this a priority. As you already know, the primary focus in third grade mathematics is multiplication and division. It is time for all students to be practicing these facts. As a result, our daily practice in the classroom will now be multiplication and division and division only. Your child is now expected to complete the addition and/or subtraction practice at home. Thank you for your help with this.
