Weston Newsletter
March 2019
Hello Weston Families,
March is here! March is Reading Month! Your child should have brought the March Reading Month Calendar home or will bring it home soon. If you need another copy please notify your child's teacher, or pick one up in the office. The calendar is filled with many fun activities that promote reading. We will hold a Reading Family Night on March 14 from 5:30-7pm. Reading Night will have multiple activities and pizza available for dinner!
As March and April bring on Spring, it is still very important to send your child with warm gear. A winter jacket is still a must. We all know that Michigan weather can change abruptly, so please be sure to send your child with a warm jacket even if it’s somewhat warm in the morning.
As Kindergarten registration is here, we are excited for more students to join our Weston Family!
Warm Regards,
Douglas Hibbs, Weston Principal
Principal's Academic Piece--
To the point: Time is valuable
Time is a precious thing. We all need to be reminded (even myself) to spend time wisely. This means, at times--put work aside, put your cell phone down, get off social media, miss your favorite TV show...AND spend precious moments with your family. Same for children and adolescence, put media, electronics, and video games aside and converse with your family. Building relationships is vital and the best way to do that is to be face to face, talking, building language skills, and problem solving or just having fun together.
March 25-29 will bring us Spring Break 2019. Enjoy these days with your child. Whether you are in Northern MI, Flint, or across the country, spend time with your children having conversations. Continue to read with your child on beaches, in cars, on airplanes, or under a cozy blanket at home. Play board games, go for walks, and be goofy with your child.
Money, cars, cell phones, video games, and other objects can be replaced...people and time cannot be replaced!
Thank your for sharing your child's time with us every school day!

Stay tuned...
Between snow, ice, freezing rain, and frigid temps, we have already used up our allotted six snow days (or inclement weather days).
Kevin Walworth, Kearsley's Superintendent, will make a decision on how to move forward by making up snow days at the end of the year or to appeal to the state with a waiver or possibly even a combination of both. Even with this, poor weather can occur through March and sometimes even into April. So stay tuned and understand we could be in school past June 6.
Hoping for warm weather!
