SMART PROGRAM UPDATE
The SMART Program is an $800 million bond that provides critically needed funding for Broward County Public Schools. SMART addresses elements of Safety, Music & Art, Athletics, Renovations, and Technology at schools across the District.
The Renovations element of the SMART Program largely focuses on improving schools and the educational experience of students. A six-step process is put in place to ensure that all Primary Renovation projects are completed efficiently. Cresthaven Elementary School is in the Hire Designer phase of its SMART Program’s Primary Renovations. The hired design team will prepare construction drawings that will be used to bring all enhancements to fruition.
ENHANCEMENTS UNDERWAY:
- ADA restrooms
- Bldg envelope improvements (roof, window, ext. wall, etc.)
- HVAC improvements
As part of the School Choice Enhancement Program (SCEP), schools are allocated $100,000 to spend at their discretion. Common uses of the funds include laptops, golf carts, projectors, and classroom furniture for students and teachers.
IN PROGRESS
