NEWS FROM THE HEADS

PAUL BEVIS

No doubt for me, the highlight of the week was presenting prizes and awards to so many Senior Girls and Sixth Form on Speech Day. I opened my part of the proceedings with some general thoughts:

“We are about to present a wide variety of awards and prizes and this epitomises the breadth of achievement and ambition that we nurture at Claires Court. What is wonderful about our jobs as teachers, or those that work in those important non-teaching roles, is that every day we witness the small and sometimes hesitant steps that every young person in our School takes. Those who are about to step up onto the stage are the visible representatives of that success, but like an iceberg there is a huge amount that we may not immediately see - so if you are not coming up today never forget what you have achieved. “

We have now been back at school for just over two weeks and the girls are settling in well to their new classes with their new teachers. A common theme in the reasons for handing out Merit certificates this week was ‘hard work’ and ‘ determination’. This is wonderful to see as it means the girls are really trying to be their best selves and start the year off as they mean to go on.

SHEENA WILDING

A very big thank you goes to everyone who joined in our “Jeans for Genes” day on Friday. It was lovely to see lots of lovely dressing-up costumes on the children and they were very happy to show them to all their friends. We raised £40.20 for this very worthy cause.
