USDA Meals for Kids Site Finder
To slow the spread of the new coronavirus (COVID-19), many schools have closed unexpectedly. To ensure that children who rely on free or reduced-price meals at school are able to get the nutrition they need, USDA is working with states to continue providing meals to students. Usually, the rules require that children gather and eat their meals on site. However, due to the exceptional circumstances of this public health emergency and the need for social distancing, USDA was able to make temporary changes so that meals may be taken home, and parents or guardians may pick meals for their children if the state allows. Families can use this tool to find directions to nearby sites as well as hours of operation and contact information.
Also, the USDA National Hunger Hotline remains a helpful resource for people seeking food assistance. The hotline, operated by Hunger Free America, can be reached Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET. at 1-866-3-HUNGRY (1-866-348-6479) or 1-877-8-HAMBRE (1-877-842-6273) (for Spanish).

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT - MRS.TAMMY COLLETT
Tammy Collett has been with Huntsville City Schools for 23 years. She currently works at McDonnell Elementary and is originally from Crossroads, Alabama. Tammy is married and has two children named Stephanie and Josh along with two grandkids named Hayden and Emma. She describes herself as a quiet and honest person. Tammy has also resided in Gurley, Alabama. The things that she adores most about working in CNP is the time off, the work schedule, and that she gets to cook.
When she is not working, Tammy goes to church and loves to visit the Smokie Mountains. She is very fond of both country and gospel music. If Tammy were not working in the Child Nutrition Program, then she explains that she would be working in a factory. Her favorite hobby is shopping. She feels that CNP is important because it allows students to get a hot meal which may be the only one they get on a specific day.
Tammy’s favorite sport is college football where she roots for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Tammy says that one day she plans on visiting Hawaii. In five years Tammy plans on retiring and spending more time with her grandchildren. She defines success as being a happy person.
Congratulations on your retirement!
