UOI 1: Who We Are
An inquiry into the nature of the self; beliefs and values; personal, physical, mental, social and spiritual health; human relationships including families, friends, communities, and cultures; rights and responsibilities; and what it means to be human.
Central idea: Families and friends help us understand the importance of roles and responsibilities.

What Are We Learning This Unit?
Math
- Students will order, count, sort and classify up to ten objects to answer “how many?”
- Learn to make and understand relationships between number and object using classroom resources.
- Practice counting and identifying numbers from 1-10
- Match numbers with objects to answer "how many" questions about a variety of objects, pictures, and drawings
English Language Arts
- With prompting and support students will be able to ask and answer questions about key details in a story, drawing and/or an illustration.
- Identify short vowel sounds
- Letter recognition, letter-sound recognition (consonants/vowels, CVC words)

Arabic
- I can Identify the Arabic Letters (أ - ح) sounds and structures and vocab with meaning.
- I can Identify the Arabic Letters (أ - ح) sounds and structures and vocab اسد- ارنب- بطة برتقال- تفاحه – تمساح - ثوب – ثعلب -جمل – جامع – حوت- حصان -حب with meaning
- I can greet my peers السلام عليكم- مع السلامة, introduce self to someone أنا اسمي - أنا ولد- أنا بنت, answer simple questions ما اسمك؟ كيف حالك؟ هل انتم مستعدون؟ with meaning.
- I can count 1-10, recite words and phrases that I learned, recite short memorized songs Nasheed about the Arabic Language (سألت سارة).
- Copying some characters or letter off the board (أ-ح) with different position shapes (initial, middle, and final)

Science & Social Studies
Social Studies: Political Science
- Students will learn to Identify the importance of rules, roles and responsibility.
- Describe the roles, rights and responsibilities of being a member of a family.
Science: Animals Two by Two:
- Investigation #1: Goldfish and guppies
- observe the structures and behaviors of goldfish
- Compare fish and guppies
- Record observations in Science Journal
Investigations# 2: Big and Little Worms:
- Digging up worms and observing their structure and behavior. How do they move? Where do they live? What can they do?
- Contruct worm jars to make compost and show how plant material changes to soil
Qur'an
- Recognize the letters and sounds of Arabic alphabets in their initial, middle, and final position.
- Memorize Surah Fatiha, Ikhlas, and Falaq with fluency and Tajweed and understand the general meaning of the surah.
Islamic Studies
- Aqeedah: Allah is one, Allah has Messengers
- Seerah: Know what is a messenger and who is our messenger
- Manners: Say as salamu alikum, manners of Salam, Speaking with respect
- Islamic History: learn the story of Adam
- FIQH: Do wudu before we pray
Art
- Manipulate art media, material, and tools safely.
- Create artworks that explore the use of color, line, shape, and texture to express ideas and feelings, identify these elements in artworks and environment.
- Explore the use of patterns.
