How does that cheer go again? Oh ya ...
LET'S GET FIRED UP ... WE ARE FIRED UP!
I encourage ALL of you to get out and cheer our student-athletes on to victory - you won't regret it! As for right now ... it's time for BricksCenter!

Boys Tennis
On Monday, the Brickies welcomed IHSAA Sectional rival Merrillville to town for our boys last home contest of the regular season. Anytime the Bricks & Bucs get together, intensity levels rise and teams bring out the best in each other ... and Monday was no different!! Junior Jacob Lewis and sophomore Levi Snyder each won in straight sets at #2 & #3 singles to get Hobart within 1 set of a victory. At #1 doubles, junior Connor Niemann and freshman Cash Salunga took their 1st game 6-3 and had to BATTLE through a TOUGH 2nd game to win a tie-breaker (7-6) and deliver a BRICKIE WIN!!! This was the 2nd straight match that our boys won in THRILLING fashion thanks to one of our doubles teams!! AWESOME WORK WORK WORK GUYS!!
Tuesday, Hobart hit the road for Hammond to face the Morton Governors. In the heat, our boys SHINED!! Senior Cam Gonzalez earned a straight set win at #1 singles and Lewis, Snyder, Niemann & Salunga all followed suit to give the Brickies the 4-0 VICTORY!! Due to lightning, the #2 doubles team of juniors Gavin Pettit and Kaden Miller-Lane was unable to finish, which caused their match to end in a draw.
On Thursday, the Brickies were on the road again ... this time the destination was the Hub City of Lake County, also known as Crown Point. Unfortunately for the Bricks, the Bulldogs' bite was just as scary as their bark and as hard as our boys fought, CP took the win 5-0.
Hobart finished the regular season with a record of 7-8 and will host the IHSAA Sectional starting next WEDNESDAY! GOOD LUCK BOYS!!

Soccer
On Tuesday night, the Lady Brickies headed over to 5959 Broadway to face Andrean in an NCC showdown! The game was initially delayed due to lightning, but eventually the girls were able to warm up and get things going. Unfortunately, 15 minutes into the 1st half, there was another lightning delay, which forced the game to be suspended with the 59ers leading 1-0. The reschedule date was set for Thursday.
Wednesday, Hobart was at Boone Grove for the Lady Wolves' senior night. In a well-played first half, the Lady Bricks trailed just 1-0. Over the final 40 minutes of play, Boone took control and outscored our girls 3-1 to win the non-conference match up by a 4-1 final. Junior Rachel Gillins scored her 1st career goal for Hobart in the loss.
On Thursday, the Andrean contest was resumed where it left off and the 2021 IHSAA State Runner-Up Lady '9ers looked sharp putting in 2 first half goals and adding 3 more in the 2nd. Hobart rallied time and time again, but could not find the back of the net and dropped the NCC matchup 5-0.
The Lady Brickies are now 5-6-2 on the year with 3 games left before IHSAA Sectional play starts. FINISH STRONG LADIES!! WE BELIEVE!!
Boys
On Wednesday night, the Brickies put their undefeated NCC record on the line as our boys welcomed rival Andrean to The Brickyard! Hobart was AMAZING right from the first whistle and built a 4 GOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALL lead over the first 40 minutes of play!! In the 2nd half, our boys were even MORE AMAZING as they tacked on 5 MORE GOOOOOOOOOAAAALLS to win 9-0 in DOMINANT fashion!! WOW!! Junior Carson Bell had a hat-trick of 3 goals, classmate Luke Weinman scored 2 of his own, and the rest came from junior Jack Cruz, sophomore Eddie Udave, and freshmen Adrian Stojkoski & Dominic Nolan!!
Saturday morning, Hobart welcomed the Kouts Mustangs to Don Howell Field for a non-conference matchup. The Mustangs actually defeated our boys a year ago, but this time ... the Brickies made sure a "repeat" was not in the cards. Hobart scored 1 in the first half and then EXPLODED for 4 more GOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLSS over the final 40 minutes of play to secure a convincing 5-0 VICTORY!! Udave put 2 in the back of the net and junior classmates Thomas Martin, Jack Harris & Bell each added another in the win!
The Brickies have now won 10 IN A ROW and hold a 12-1-1 record for the regular season! Two more games remain before sectional play begins. Our boys will host Merrillville on Monday and then travel to Highland with a chance to wrap up another UNDEFEATED NCC championship on Wednesday. DON'T STOP NOW BOYS!!!

Special THANK YOU to Ladan Weinman for all the AMAZING photos each week!

Football
Hobart got the ball first and was unable to pick up a first down. However, a muffed punt reception by the '9ers was recovered by junior Luke Granzow and the Brickies had the ball with new life! On the next play, junior Zach Bloom caught a screen pass from sophomore QB Noah Ehrlich and then lofted a halfback pass to a wide open Jaelen Williams for a 42-yard TOUCHDOWN!!!!! WOW - WHAT A PLAY!! Andrean would respond with a drive of their own - mostly on the legs of Notre Dame recruit Drayk Bowen, and the score was 7-7 after 12 minutes of play.
Andrean scored twice in the 2nd quarter to take a 21-7 lead, but senior kicker Ryan Pimentel sailed a late field goal through the uprights to cut the 59er lead to 21-10 at the break.
In the 3rd quarter, the Brickie D-D-D-DEFENSE forced a punt and Hobart drove the length of the field and SCORED on a powerful 20-yard run from senior tailback Trey Gibson!! After an Andrean FG, it was 24-17 heading into the 4th quarter.
The final 12 minutes of play were INTENSE as each team BATTLED with everything they had! Hobart got the ball 1 final time with roughly 6 minutes remaining and drove all the way down inside the 5-yard line with a chance to tie or take the lead inside a minute remaining!! Unfortunately, Andrean was able to hold the line and the game ended in heart-breaking fashion with 6 seconds left and the scoreboard still showing Andrean 24, Hobart 17.
It was a FANTASTIC effort from our boys ... one that will help them down the road. Gibson finished with 30 carries for 116 yds and a score ... Senior Noah Miller led the Brickie D with 8 total tackles (2 of them for a loss).
Hobart is now 3-3 on the year and 1-1 in NCC play. The Bricks will travel to Kankakee Valley next week looking to bounce back and continue improving as the regular season winds down. LET'S GO BRICKS!!

Cross Country
The Brickie harriers were in action over at the Highland Invitational on Saturday. After burning up the trails the last two weeks - could our kids continue to impress with another strong showing?
Girls
The Highland Invitational attracts some of the best in the area, which generally results in a REALLY FAST finish ... and the 2022 version DID NOT DISAPPOINT! On an absolute PERFECT fall morning for a race, the Lady Brickies placed 8th out of the 23-team field and saw some INCREDIBLE times for the 3rd straight week! Freshman PHENOM Cassie Cohen WON the individual overall title with a PR of 19:10.7! This is Cassie's 4th individual win of the season - AMAZING!! Hobart had a number of LIFETIME BEST performances from a slew of freshman ... Joanna Cantu, Millie Massey, Delaney Williams, Audrey Turley & Alissa Trail! Junior Kylee King rounded out the top 7 runners for Hobart.
No question about it ... our Lady Bricks SHINED BRIGHT LIKE A DIAMOND!!
Boys
The Brickie BOYZ were looking to keep building on the OUTSTANDING performance they showed last week at New Prairie ... and they DELIVERED BIGTIME!!
FAB freshman Felix Lopez SPRINTED to a 13th place overall finish in a PERSONAL BEST time of 17:11.7 to lead Hobart to a top-10 finish as a team for the 3rd straight year!! In fact, all of our boys ran like CHAMPIONS on the course that wraps around the Erie-Lackawanna trail and finishes on the track inside the Highland football stadium!
Junior Owen Stankich was next into the chute for Hobart followed by sophomore Kolin Gladney, freshmen classmates Durgon Click & Lu Cohen, junior Quentin Stengel and freshman Ethan Murchek!!
AWESOME WORK FELLAS!!
Coach A stated earlier this fall how much he likes this group of kids. Clearly their RESULTS are showing that they aren't just nice kids ... THEY CAN RUN TOO!! The NCC CHAMPIONSHIP awaits next Saturday @ Kankakee Valley. RUN BRICKIES RUN!!
#PRIDEANDTRADITION
Special THANK YOU to both Mackie Stankich and Becky Williams for all the AMAZING photos each week!

Volleyball
Wednesday brought future NCC member Hanover Central to The Friendly City. The Lady Wildcats entered the contest with an impressive record of 12-6, jumped on Hobart early and controlled the match throughout to earn a 3-0 win.
On Thursday, Hobart was back in NCC play versus Kankakee Valley. The Lady Kougars roared in the 1st set and won 16-25 on their home floor. The Lady Brickies tried to BATTLE BACK in the 2nd set, but KV gained control midway through and won again by a 16-25 score to take a 2-0 advantage. In the 3rd set, KV won again ... amazingly by the exact same score, 16-25, to claim the 3-0 NCC win.
The Lady Brickies are now 12-13 on the year and 2-5 in NCC action. With two weeks remaining in the regular season, Hobart will look to pick up some momentum heading into the IHSAA sectional. YOU CAN DO IT LADIES!!
