A Covid-19 PSA (public service announcement) from a medical member of the SHS community: With the opening of schools the hospitals are seeing an abundance of sick children. The health system was recently reorganized to try and take the pressure off our pediatric emergency rooms who are all OVER capacity. Many parents are struggling with how to navigate the health system to get their child tested and back to school. Here is a brief overview.
Terry Fox Run Fundraising: All Selwyn House students will be participating in the annual Terry Fox Run on Friday, October 8. Students should attend school in their house t-shirts and Selwyn House athletics wear and should be prepared to run outside regardless of the weather. Please read the following Parent Information Letter for specific details about fundraising, event timing, and expectations. All participants can donate online to support this event.

Volunteer Opportunity: Are you looking to make a difference in the life of an isolated senior citizen? Selwyn House and Contactivity Seniors Program have a special intergenerational partnership that allows seniors and youth to connect in a variety of ways. Here’s how you can get involved.
Covid-19 Precautions and Protocols
If someone in your household has tested positive for Covid-19, all SHS students in that household need to stay home and contact their Head of School (Mr. Lajoie for Middle School, cc: Ms. Beech) to discuss the student’s safe return to school.
If a student presents symptoms that may be Covid-19 symptoms, please keep him home until symptoms have ceased and complete the online Covid symptom self-assessment to determine if testing is required. Contact Ms. Beech to keep us informed.
If a student needs to be tested because he has symptoms, book an appt for COVID-19 screening. Upon receiving the negative test results, if the student no longer has symptoms and has not had any fever for 24 hours, he may return to school. Contact Ms. Beech to keep us informed.
Spectators need proof of vaccination at sporting venues: As per RSEQ (Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec) regulations, all spectators or visitors at any sporting venue used by our school must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and be able to show proof in the form of a QR code.
Proof of vaccination is required for all students 13 years and older who wish to participate in extracurricular activities.
Label Everything and Pack Carefully! To limit visitors in the school, parents are asked to refrain from dropping off items for their sons during the school day whenever possible. Students should please remember to pack what they need for the day in their backpacks. Please label everything (i.e. SHS uniform pieces and water bottles) so it will be easy to return lost items to your son.
