The Lion's Share

September 2021

Message from the Principal:

Good morning,

It's hard to believe that we are in September!

While this year has felt more "normal" than last year, it's hard to ignore that COVID-19 is still around. When looking at the numbers around the state/district (GPS Dashboard link below), I really appreciate the diligence of our community. By keeping sick students home, encouraging frequent hand sanitizing, and providing for social distancing when possible, we have had a favorable month of August in regards to student cases. While I had initially targeted Labor Day for allowing parents to start coming in to lunch, I am going to push that back. In the coming weeks, I am hoping that cooler weather will allow for some outdoor eating opportunities.

During the last two weeks, all students have been assessed in reading and math. These assessments will allow us to design instruction that best meet the needs of our students. It has been a point of emphasis here that no students are "behind." It is our job as educators, to meet students where they are and focus learning on what is absolutely essential for success in the future. With that being said, having 100% participation in parent/teacher conferences will be critical. Teachers can discuss where your child is academically and how you can best partner with us to build towards your child's success.

As always, I feel that it's my job to serve the Settler's Point community, so if there's ever anything I can do to help/support your child, please feel free to contact me.
