All families are encouraged to fill out the Free and Reduced-Price Meals applications. If your child previously received free or reduced-priced meals, a new application must be received to determine if your child still qualifies. Previous free and reduced-meal eligibility has now expired. Viking Futures Fund
We have exciting news to share!
The LV Viking Booster Club has established the Viking Futures Fund. Each year we will set a Viking-Sized Goal to fundraise for a large scale project or item that will benefit Lago Vista Athletics!
For 2023-2024, our goal is to raise $65,000 for a wrapped 14-15 passenger sprinter van, which will be a tremendous addition to the Athletics Program. In memory of and to honor Whitney Vaughan-Christopher, it will be called the #RowLikeWhit van and have the graphic on the back.
LV Athletic Director/Head Football Coach, Craten Phillips said, "A passenger van would be a game-changer for the Lago Vista athletic department. So many teams would make use during tournament season when parking is tight and travel between games is necessary. Tennis, Golf, and Cross Country could take the entire team without having to order a whole bus for just 6-12 kids. Being able to transport a team without a bus or the CDL requirement would be a huge benefit for the district as less subs would be needed for coaches missing class to drive other teams."
We want to include our community and all of Viking Nation, so personal, business and/or organization sponsorships are available to help fund the #RowLikeWhit van. For anyone donating $1,000 or more, a sponsorship decal will be added to the back of the van for a 3-year period.

Shout out to Liz Deterra, senior football mom, who goes above and beyond helping out in concessions week after week (year after year) and any time we are short on volunteers!! Thanks, Liz, for always showing up to help! Liz’s youngest son, Decker (#3) plays WR/DB and is currently a senior at LVHS!
Liz has devoted her career to our education system. She previously worked for Lake Travis ISD and now currently works for the Education Service Center Region 13 and is the Administrative Specialist for the School Improvement Team. Education Service Center Region 13 is one of twenty service centers that serve Texas’ educational needs. They are a non-regulatory agency that collaborates and supports school districts. Their purpose is to aid teachers and administrators in their role as educators of our children. They serve as a liaison between the TEA (Texas Education Agency) and the local school districts and the schools they serve by disseminating information, conducting training and consultation for both federal and state programs.
WHERE ARE THEY WEDNESDAY?
This week we are recognizing Ryder Phillips, the 2022 recipient of the LV Viking Booster Club Doug Jumper Scholarship (Top Male Athlete). Ryder is a 2022 graduate of Lago Vista High School. While attending high school, Ryder participated in football, basketball, track, and tennis.
Since graduating from LVHS, Ryder has attended The University of Texas at Austin. He is working toward a mechanical engineering degree and has joined the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Currently in his sophomore year, Ryder’s plans are to “focus on my studies and get involved with more engineering organizations.” After graduating from UT, he plans to pursue a career in automotive engineering.
Ryder expressed that the Booster Club Scholarship “allowed me to stay in the dorms during my first year and explore that side of my college experience. The scholarship was important to me because I have been a part of Lago Vista sports for 6 years, and I invested lots of my before and after school time practicing for various sports. It meant a lot to be rewarded for my involvement in something I love as much as team sports.”
When asked how Lago Vista sports impacted his life, Ryder said, “Lago Vista, in my opinion, has the best coaching staff in the state of Texas, so I have had a really great group of coaches supporting and mentoring me through my growing years. I also learned a lot about finding a role in a team setting and figuring out how to do the most good with what I have to offer. Overall, I found the importance of constantly getting better at what I am trying to accomplish by putting in effort every day.”
We are so proud of what Ryder accomplished at LVHS and his time so far at UT! We wish you all the best, Ryder!
