Ms. Bast's 4th Grade Gazette

* Warrior Ridge Elementary ** September 19th - 23rd *

Welcome to Room 151!

Families,

Happy Autumn...even if it doesn't necessarily feel like it outside!!

As I stated in the email, eValuate testing for September went well. I was especially impressed with those students who really took their time and double-checked all their work! It was a fabulous sight on the first test! I think those students really saw how it positively impacted their scores. I will print and send home individual results later this week, as soon as all students have completed the tests.

Our S.M.A.R.T. goals have been set and we are working diligently to meet those expectations for ourselves. I am extremely excited to see how enthusiastic students are about their goals and making strides to meet them!

It is going to be an exciting year, and I am thrilled to be experiencing these adventures with your child!

Proud to be a Warrior,

Ms. Bast

READING COUNTS!!

Reading Counts begins this week! Students brought home a letter with their ID and password last Thursday. Students are able to sign into the Reading Counts site from home. There is a link on the Warrior Ridge Elementary home page. You may have to scroll down to see it.

Students will be working toward school-wide prizes, as well as classroom incentives! I will be hosting "Twin"kie day again, in May, for all fourth grade students who reach 300 points and earn the Reading Counts t-shirt. More details will follow, as we get closer to this day.

I am hoping to have an entire class of "Twin"kies this year!! Get those books read and tests taken!!

Meet Ms. Bast

This is my sixth year teaching; my first year in Fourth Grade. I live in O'fallon, and I have a seven-year old Boxer named Sophie. I love to read, write, and draw. I also like to go hiking, take Sophie to the dog park or on a walk, and I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. I also love to bake cupcakes, so don't be surprised if your fourth grader comes home telling you they got a special treat in class!

Sophie and I are lucky to share our lives with Anabelle (9), William (7), and Charlotte (5) and their dad. We like to spend our family times exploring parks, swimming, watching movies, creating art projects, and attending lots of extracurricular events. Anabelle loves to write and draw and is looking forward to Spanish & Art Club this year. William is a soccer star in the making. He is training to be a goalie!! Charlotte is our little dancer. She has some sassy little dance moves she loves to show off. All in all, we keep ourselves busy!!

I am pleased to be your child's teacher this year. Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.
