Journalism & Mass Communication Career Day
The Journalism & Mass Communication Career Day is coming on February 7! The event will include opportunities for students to network with employers at a coffee mixer, luncheon, and the career fair.

- 10:30-11 a.m.—Coffee Mixer with Students and Employers—Hosted in the Peyton Anderson Forum in the Journalism Building
- 11:00 a.m. -12:15 p.m.—Panel: Kick-starting Your Career: Tips for New Professionals—Hosted in the Peyton Anderson Forum in the Journalism Building RSVP for the Luncheon on Handshake.
- 12:30-2:00 p.m.— Networking Luncheon with Students and Employers—Hosted in Tate Grand Hall

Disney College Program - Applications Open January 22
Tennessee Department of Transportation Summer Internship Program
TDOT offers a paid internship program to introduce students to the importance of transportation and civil service. We offer summer internships in the areas of civil engineering, finance, urban planning & development and training.
2019 TDOT Summer Internship applications will be available until Friday, March 8, 2019. Interested students may contact Giuliana.Guglielmi@tn.gov with questions.
Harvard Kennedy School Government Performance Lab Fellowships
Our nation needs to make more rapid progress addressing difficult social problems. The Harvard Kennedy School Government Performance Lab (GPL) believes that state and local governments are critical contributors in this effort. Our teams work on the ground with government agencies to transform how they provide services to constituents in domains such as homelessness, behavioral health, early childhood, child welfare, criminal justice, workforce, and education.
The GPL is seeking to hire a cohort of Fellows with a passion for improving government performance and solving social problems.
Please join us for an online info session on Tuesday, February 5 at 12:00pm about the fellowship opportunity at the Harvard Kennedy School Government Performance Lab! This session will be hosted by Rob Koenig, GPL Director of Strategy and Operations, and Sarah Allin, GPL Assistant Director.

Grad Workshop: Embracing the Chaos: Career Exploration for Graduate Students
Date: Thursday, January 24
Time: 3:30pm
Location: Journalism Building, Room 511
Graduate students face unique career development challenges and opportunities, and many traditional career planning models may not make sense for master’s and doctoral students. In this workshop, we will discuss how to “embrace the chaos,” specifically exploring how Chaos Career Theory may be utilized as a conceptual framework for graduate career development. The session will include an overview of Chaos Theory, example reflective exercises, and other useful strategies that can be used for further planning and exploration.
Pre-registration is NOT required
Express Workshop: Ace the Interview (Arch Ready Spring 2019)
Date: Friday, January 25
Time: 3:00pm and 3:30pm
Location: Career Center Multipurpose Room
This 30-minute express workshop will cover the top five interview strategies in 15 minutes, with an additional 15 minutes for questions. Please note that you will not conduct a mock interview during this time, however, you can have specific questions answered about any upcoming interview. If you're in need of some quick interviewing tips in between classes, this workshop is for you!
This workshop is open to ALL majors at UGA and counts toward your Arch Ready Professionalism Certificate - http://career.uga.edu/archready.
This workshop is limited to 20 people per session and pre-registration is required.
Grad Workshop: Crafting Your Application Materials (Resume, CV, and Cover Letter)

Cover letters always accompany a resume when applying for an internship or full-time position. This seminar will provide graduate students with tips, formats, and approaches to targeting your resume and cover letter to make you stand out from other applicants. It is important to understand what companies expect to see for both content as well as layout.

Career Fair Prep (Arch Ready Spring 2019)

In this workshop, you will learn how to:
(1) Identify resources to conduct employer research prior to attending the Career Fair
(2) Develop and demonstrate a 20-30 second introduction/elevator pitch
(3) Identify appropriate business professional attire to wear to career fairs
