Daily STEAM & Wellness Challenges

Wellness: no technology

Suit Up and Exercise- Grab a deck of cards and assign each suit an exercise. (Example: Diamonds-Jumping Jacks, Hearts-Squats, Spades-Pencil Jumps, Clubs-Sky Punches) Take turns with a family member choosing a card. Create a workout by completing the number of exercises of the card chosen, paying attention to the suit of the card. To add math to this: After every two or more cards add, subtract, multiply, or divide the card amounts.

STEAM: technology

PBS Kids - Check out these engineering games on PBS kids! They will get your students thinking like engineers as they solve problems, build designs, and help others.

Breakout EDU:

Haspy & Lockit: Going Places - Haspy & Lockit are ready for another adventure, they just need a little help getting started. Help them figure out how things work, which buttons to push and where to turn so they can Breakout on their new journey!

STEAM: non-technology

What can you make with a paper towel roll? Transform it into something you can play with, give as a gift, or use for a new purpose. Don’t forget engineers always draw and label their plan before building.

Minute to Win It Family Challenges:

Start a game show with your own family! Minute to Win It is a game where contestants take part in a series of 60-second challenges that use objects that are available around your house. So grab your family, have fun together, and maybe keep score throughout the week!

Spoon Frog - Partner up and grab 9 spoons and 3 cups. As a group, launch 3 spoons in each cup. Try to beat the competing team.

Chesterfield Food Bank Update

The Chesterfield Food Bank just issued this update:

We will be serving the public with breakfast and lunch items for children that will be ready to be picked up on Tuesdays and Thursdays here at our Chester location at 12211 Iron Bridge Road, Chester, Virginia from 4:00 to 6:30 pm. This will begin Tuesday, March 17. Volunteers to pack for this distribution are welcome on Mondays and Wednesdays between the hours of 10:00 to 12:00, and volunteers will be welcome during the special children’s food distribution to help us serve on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

This will be a drive through distribution, eliminating the need for clients to leave their vehicles. The food will be distributed in the parking lot directly to each vehicle.

And rest assured that there are absolutely no plans to cancel any food distributions.

We ask for your patience as we work through the ever-changing information on the Corona Virus that is being released on a daily basis.

Community support is vital to the success of the current mission we are facing. Please follow us on social media, call our office, or email at info@chesterfieldfoodbank.org to learn about how you can help.
