ECLC Class News
Week of 5/2-5/6
What we did this week ...
Our centers and books were based upon Spring and Mother's Day this week. The books I read this week were The Grouchy Ladybug, Happy Mother's Day Clifford, and The Flea's Sneeze.
The students created ice cream cones, and filled them up with ice cream scoops of tens. They used a clothespin to clip a letter flower petal that was a missing beginning, middle or end letter in a cvc word. The kids sorted words by their beginning digraphs, and completed a rhyming center.

Other things we did this week ....
In phonics, the students tapped out sounds to make words. They practiced reading nonsense words. I introduced beginning and ending digraphs to the students. These include ch, sh, th, wh and ck. They practiced writing numbers and writing some of our past learned letters.
We learned the sight word has this week.
I hope all of the moms have a wonderful and relaxing Mother's Day! Make sure you look in your child's folder on Sunday. There is something special in there from your son or daughter.
Have a great weekend.
