Aviator Agenda: April 18-22
HOW TO BE CRAZY GOOD?
Do you know the physics of dominoes? A domino can knock over another domino that is 50% larger than its size. If you start with a domino the size of your pinky nail, that tiny domino can knock over the next domino that’s 50% bigger than it. And, guess what? That domino can knock over the next one that’s 50% bigger than it. If you continue the pattern of 50% bigger each time, the 13th domino is now 3 feet tall and weighs 100 lbs. If you look at the big picture, 15 dominoes or so and you’re looking at the Eifel Tower! As the dominoes fall, two billion times more force is created with the last domino compared with the first.
Roberts family, this is how we should face any challenge in regards to teaching and in life. It starts as little as building relationships, differentiating instruction, or tailoring instruction for those few students who struggle. What if you could make a teaching impact with one small act? Taking that first step can set into motion a series of events culminating in a big result. This is how you can be crazy good at Roberts!
I want you to be the best teachers. I will always challenge you to have a growth mindset and to cultivate a positive attitude. Kindness and serving others are powerful in creating a thriving culture. Thank you for always serving! Thank you for bringing your best stuff each and every day!

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR THE STAAR TEST?
- It starts with us, the teacher led group in the blended model. We need to make sure that we are increasing the rigor of instruction in our small group.
What does increasing rigor look like.
- This means providing our students more of a challenging and meaningful learning environment. We want to create a small group environment where students are thinking critically and actively employing problem solving skills. We need to allow our students the opportunity to struggle in their learning.
How do you support this necessary struggle to take your student further than ever?
- This can only happen if we preplan our questions. At times, we let our students off the hook by supplying the answer too quickly. One of the tools we can implement within our small groups is to check for understanding. Understanding is best gauged through a written answer. Written responses give teachers an objective framework for understanding when to move on and when to reteach.
What will we be looking for:
- Give students the opportunity to struggle
- Preplan questions and sentence stems
- Check for understanding through writing
