Breakfast with the Principal a Success!

Breakfast with the Principal was on April 6th and was a successful event where over 30 parents came to learn more about academic tasks that are important for the success of students. We shared resources like Khan Academy, iStation and much more.

Ivery's Alternative Projects

Differentiating Instruction for Intensive Reading Students

Ms. Ivery's Intensive Reading students have been reading about the therapeutic effects of music, watching media that supports the literature, and finally researching various artists as a culminating final exam grade. Students have the opportunity to do research, express themselves artistically and present their findings to the class.

Family Fun Day: Dental Awareness

Organized by Mr. C. Ron Allen and the Village Academy family, Family Fun Day was a success! Guest speakers were there from a variety of organizations such as: Delray Fire fighters, Delray Police with SWAT & K 9 Unit, Delray Divas, local celebrity MMA fighter, car show, rummage sale, and safety patrols sold concessions.

Village Academy's First Ivy League Acceptance!

We are elated to share with the Village Academy family that Lizeth Arzate has been admitted to Cornell University. Ms. Latour started the process by visiting Cornell last summer. Thank you Mrs. LaTour!! Lizeth is a full time dual enrolled student who is exemplary in her work and efforts.


Delray Students First will work hard to help her figure financial challenges that lie ahead and seek maximum support. Village Academy has produced its first Ivy League student (pending the scholarship results)………CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

College Signing Day 5/10/16

Village Academy will have its annual event College Signing on 5/10/16. This event will take place during school and will recognize all seniors that have been accepted to colleges, career & technical schools and/or recognize student's future plans. Families of seniors will be invited to attend this event. Please see the video below for an example of how our Village Academy Signing Day will be designed. Ms. Andria Heaven our Athletic Director and Senior Class Sponsor will manage the event.
YES Prep Signing Day 2010

AVID Family Night coming up at the end of April!

Food will be provided. For new students it will be an orientation, for the current students we will advise parents on how you can help you child (FLVS, staying occupied, activities, enrichment programs, library cards, supply list, shared expectations) There will also be games with stations that will be run by AVID students. This is a chance for incoming parents to see what AVID has to offer.

AVID Feild Day is on May 20th

All current AVID students in secondary will attend field day held at Catherine Strong Park. There will be food, games, and AVID awards. Dr. Solis and AVID site team members will plan and sponsor this event.

High school AVID encourages elementary AVID

High school AVID students wrote encouragement letters to elementary school AVID students in order to boost their confidence as they prepared for the elementary FSA tests. This vertical alignment is one way to keep AVID practices going!

Head Start Theme and STEAM

Ms. Cheryl Williams Head Start Director was awarded a STEAM grant from PNC Bank for the Head Start program. A very successful STEAM Fair was recently held for all of the Head Start students.

VA Football Player Scheduled to attend NFL Draft

Devonte Robinson former VA football player and nephew of Helen Newbold is scheduled to be in the upcoming NFL Draft. This is a proud moment for Village Academy's coaches and the entire Tiger Family. Good luck Devonte!

Flap Jack Fundraiser for Football

Saturday, April 23rd, 8:30am

Good Morning. Your Tiger Football Team is selling $10 tickets for an Applebee's Flapjack Fundraiser. The Flapjack Fundraiser is a breakfast, which includes flapjacks, eggs, sausage and drinks. The event is scheduled for this Saturday, April 23 from 8:00 am to 10:00 am at the Applebee's on Jog Road & Atlantic Avenue. You can show your support by purchasing a ticket from one of the football players or football coaches.

Former Top Performing Village Academy Student Joins the Ranks of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Former Village Academy student and Class of 2013 graduate, Changlena Delpe became a member of the illustrious Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Nu Kappa Chapter at the University of West Florida in Pensacola. Changlena attended Village Academy from Kindergarten through 12th grade and is now pursuing a biology degree, majoring in Pre-Professional Biology while still managing to play an active, committed role in her community. She plans to attend medical school to become a pediatrician and will graduate from UWF in 2017. Congratulations go out to our Tiger grad on her achievement!!!!

Principal's Reminders

Friendly reminders to parents on the following information :


  • Elementary Progress Reports will come home with students on April 20.
  • “Supervision available between 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after school hours DURING REGULAR SCHOOL HOURS ONLY. There is no early drop off.
  • Effective immediately, students are NOT permitted to be on campus before 7am.
  • Students may arrive on campus at 7:00 AM
  • Students must be picked up by 2:45 PM
  • The safety of each student is very important to us

Middle school track has begun: Our first meet is April 19th starting at 4:30pm at Odyssey Middle School. Come cheer on our middle school tigers at the next meet. See Coach Jiggins and Ms. Webb for future dates!

Progress Reports Coming Up

Grades for progress reports will be in by Friday April 22nd . They will be printed on Monday April 25th and distributed on Wednesday Aprill 27th.
