Matt's Monday Memo
March 9, 2020
Good morning, Staff,
Thanks to Katie Guymon, Amie Keane, and Steve Leftridge for all their work to bring us All Write last week. Our school community put our collective best foot forward for our guest with FAC classes making food, Art classes creating personal pieces, and students sharing written work and musical pieces. A highlight in our year that we hope will long be part of our school experience.
I am more than hopeful you have taken to time to contact families to fill your time slots for conferences this week. If you have gaps in your scheduled time, please accept walk-ups as we attempt to maximize our time to work together. We will have additional reminders as we approach tonight--please let us know if you need support in any aspect. Have a great week and restful break next week.
Regards,
Matt

Celebrations
Congratulations, once again, to the entire English department and our All Write team for a great (shortened) week of programming. Once we receive the complete list to congratulate, we will share.
WGHS students Morgan Daniels, Karrie Smith, Carmen Lumpkins and Stephanie Blake were acknowledged as winners of the Proud Past - Inspired Future program. Smith and Blake received runner-up awards, and Daniels and Lumpkins received the grand prize — a trip to Washington D.C. in early April. https://www.timesnewspapers.com/webster-kirkwoodtimes/webster-groves-high-schoolers-win-trip-to-washington-d-c/article_6a8ba960-5f00-11ea-850f-8f2b9b136d99.html
World Quest Competition
Our team at the St. Louis World Affairs Council’s World Quest competition, which asks questions about international affairs in a trivia-type format. We tied for third place and had to do a sudden death tie breaker. Marquette won so we got 4th -- still so proud of these guys! Patrick Lee, Ethan Weihl, Liam Gunn, Ross Grundy

- With spring break approaching, please remember that we have a closed campus. Although alumni like to come and visit, we will turn them away. Also, former students are only allowed to visit after 2:35 p.m.
- I have had a number of requests wanting to know the status of the building being open next week. The building will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. I suggest entering Senior Entrance – the others most likely will be locked.
- It is very important that you lock your classroom whenever you are away.
