Christopher Wheeldon

Biography
Christopher Wheeldon was born in Somerset, England. He began lessons at East Coker Ballet School when he was eight years old. From age eleven to eighteen Wheeldon trained at London's Royal Ballet School. While he loved dancing, Wheeldon saw a future with choreography. Wheeldon was accepted into the Royal Ballet Company (RBC) in 1991. After 2 years of being with RBC, Wheeldon took a trip to New York, and while visiting the New York City Ballet, he was offered a spot on their company. He quit dancing at the end of the spring season in 2000 so that he could pursue choreography.
