Robison Elementary Rocket Register

September 2019

PTO News

Check out the great news from PTO!

Message from Mrs. Gerletti

For those who did not receive the "Back-to-School" Rocket Register, I wanted to make sure you were aware that I am currently on medical leave. I plan to return as soon as I'm able. I have copied the message that was sent previously for anyone new or in case you did not receive this last month.

From the last Rocket Register:

This is always the most exciting time of the year! I know our students are enthusiastic about returning to school to see their friends and to meet their new teachers. While they might not be excited about their routine of waking up earlier, I hope that they know our staff is eagerly waiting for them to return.

I would like to make you aware that I will not be at Robison on the first day of school. I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer which thankfully was caught at an early stage. I will have treatments following surgery. My plan is to be back as soon as I can be! I will definitely keep you updated on my return! While I am away from school, our students and staff will be in great hands with Mrs. Nespeca and Mrs. McCollister, our assistant principals. They are ready and willing to assist you. Mrs. Suzanne Thompson, a retired CFISD principal and current coach for new principals will be our principal substitute. Mrs. Thompson is familiar with our campus, as she has served as a substitute at Robison in both the roles of principal and assistant principal in the past. As much as I dislike missing the beginning of my 32nd year of education, I know our Rockets are in great hands. I look forward to seeing everyone when I return!

Curriculum Nights

Our teachers are excited to share important curriculum information with you. Our PPCD, Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st-grade teachers will be having face-to-face meetings. All other grade levels will share their information in a digital format. All presentations will be shared with all parents by September 20th.

Tuesday, September 10 (PPCD, PK, Kinder) at 6 pm

Tuesday, September 17 (1st grade) at 6 pm.

Marco's Spirit Nights

This year we are partnering with Marco's Pizza for a different type of spirit event. Each grade level is assigned one spirit night this year. Every student in the designated grade level will decorate their own pizza box at school. When the family calls in their order, they will mention Robison, the homeroom teacher, and the child’s name, and they will get their pizza wrapped up in their child’s box! Robison will receive 20% of these orders. The first night for October will be only at the Barker Cypress location. The dates for each grade level are:

5th grade: Wednesday, October 2

4th grade: Wednesday, November 4

3rd grade: Wednesday, December 11

2nd grade: Wednesday, February 5

1st grade: Wednesday, March 4

Kindergarten: Wednesday, April 8

Pre-K & PPCD: Wednesday, May 6

Safety at Robison

Our assistant principals will be visiting with all of our studentson Friday, September 13 about important information in our District Code of Conduct. They will also share information with our upper grades about our Tipline. A link to a video about the Tipline is below.

The safety of our students is always our top priority. Please take a moment to watch the video about safety features at Robison.

Summer Reading Challenge

The Summer Reading Challenge is due September 13th. Please turn in your blue forms to Ms. Wolfe or your teacher and they will place them in my box. I look forward to seeing many students receive their medals at the end of September.

Birthday Book Club

Join our wonderful program where students get to select a brand new book to check out and enjoy with their family. I will place a sticker with your child's name inside the cover to give credit to the birthday friend. Your child will get to bring the book home, and then they will return it to school for others to enjoy. The cost is $15.00 and form of payment is CASH or preferably paying online using SCHOOL CASH. Kids LOVE to pick out their very own book and realize the importance of reading.

Lending-to-Learn (Kajeet)

Students have been given the opportunity to borrow a district-provided Chromebook and/or a Kajeet hotspot (20 available daily). The Kajeet hotspot will allow your student to connect to the Internet from either the district-provided Chromebook or a personally owned device. It’s a filtered Internet service and will monitor and filter your student’s access. Chromebooks and Kajeet hotspots will be checked out from the library each afternoon to students as needed to complete assignments or work on projects. Students return the devices the next morning upon arrival at school. Please have your student pick up a permission slip from Ms. Wolfe : )

On Friday, Oct. 18th, the book fair will close at 2 pm. Visit and scroll to the parent message video. Thank you for your support!

Book Character Parade

Students may participate in dressing up as a favorite book character. Book Characters must be age-appropriate, no masks or weapons allowed. Car Rider Information

A big thanks for everyone’s patience and understanding while we get our car rider line operating at the beginning of the school year. Please read the reminders below to ensure that our car rider line runs smoothly and safely.

  • Adults must remain in their cars at all times. Our staff members will assist students that need help opening car doors, etc.

  • If your student is in a car seat or booster, please place the seat on the passenger side of the car so that your student does not have to walk around the car.

  • It is important that parents enter the car rider line form Spring Cypress and Woods Spillane Dr. (near the Cy-Woods baseball field). No left turns are allowed from Robison Woods drive near the bus loading area.

  • U-turning from Robison Woods drive is not allowed if there is a line of cars waiting. Please turn left at the stop sign and proceed to the end of the line.

  • The car rider door will close at 8:45 a.m. If your student arrives after 8:45, you must park in the front parking lot and sign your student in at the front office.

Thank you for your cooperation in following these policies and procedures!

What is E-Track?

We are excited for our students to have the opportunity to participate in enrichment tracks (E-Track) again this year. If you are new to Robison, E-track is another name for enrichment clusters. Enrichment clusters are groups of students who share common interests and come together during specially designated time blocks to pursue interests. We believe that all students deserve the opportunity to discover and cultivate their interests and passions through innovative learning experiences that inspire them to add value to their community and world. Students in 2nd-5th grade will make their selections based upon the choices for their grade level. Our kindergarten and first-grade students will be rotating with their homeroom classes to other teachers' rooms to participate in a modified version of E-track. Our first E-track session begins on October 9 and concludes on November 21. The specific dates are shown in the "Important Dates" section.
