Together We Will Learn, Excel, and Succeed
September 4th Edition
Congratulations to all the grandparents, parents, families and students on completing our first week of virtual learning! You made it!!!
We cherished our time with our students as they shared their smiles, stories, aha moments, ideas and more! We may have had some bumps this week, but I am so proud of our families for trying and trying again! The LES family is amazing!

Next week we will continue to phase in our full virtual schedules. Teachers will be sharing them with you. Please continue to reach out if you have questions or need support!
Here some helpful tips to support your child, their teacher and learning while students are engaged in distance learning.
Establish routines and expectations.
Identify a space in home where student(s) can learn comfortably.
Monitor communication from teachers.
Begin and end each day with a check in; be mindful of stress or worry.
Encourage physical activity and exercise.
Support digital citizenship skills.
Be mindful of what is going on in the background of your child's screen.
I am Lewistown Team PROUD for your hard work this week! Thank you for coming together for our students! I hope you have an enjoyable, relaxing and safe Labor Day weekend!
Together in heart and mind,
Belinda Fockler, Principal

IMPORTANT! Parent Response Needed !
Frederick County Public Schools staff will provide live virtual instruction as an important part of the Full Virtual Model of instruction. In the event that students are unable to attend live virtual instruction via Google Meet, these sessions or parts of these sessions will be video and audio recorded. The recorded session will be available for students who would like to review that content and instruction. We are balancing student privacy and the need for flexibility during this unprecedented pandemic.
The Frederick County Public Schools Parent Guide to Google Meet Recordings, Student Privacy and Security provides an overview of how the Google Meet recordings will be used and the methods used to ensure student privacy and security.

Having a technology issue? Parents: Did you know that having your child log in to the Chrome browser correctly will fix many issues?
Students must be logged into a Chrome browser with their FCPS username and password to access any FCPS programs such as Schoology, Google Doc assignments, Google Meet and Kami. Logging in to Chrome is how these programs recognize the student and allow access.
Please review the FCPS Troubleshooting Document for Students, Parents and Daycare Providers (Guía de solución de problemas de Schoology para padres de familia) for information on how to log in to Chrome and Schoology and for troubleshooting solutions.
