Counselors Corner

INFORMATIONAL SESSIONS


The counseling department will be hosting college/military information sessions for juniors and seniors this school year.


Goal:

The goal is to make sure our students are college and career ready before graduating from Columbia High School.


  • College admissions representatives and military representatives will give 25-30 minute presentations about their institutions and allow students to ask questions at the end of each session.
  • Financial aid, the college application process, scholarships, campus life, ASVAB, SAT/ACT requirements, and more information will be discussed in these information sessions.

Locker/BookBag Policy 2022

Beginning with the 2022-23 school year, all bookbags (backpacks) must be clear or mesh. Students will carry their laptops in the school-issued, non-transparent laptop bag. Students participating in an extracurricular activity are permitted to carry non-transparent bags to store items pertaining to their particular activity (i.e. band, athletics, etc.). Upon entry into the school, all extracurricular activity bags must be stored in designated areas. All bags are subject to search. Additionally, the maximum size for non-transparent bags that students will be permitted to carry during the school day, such as lunch kits, pencil bags and purses, will be 6” x 9”.


LOCKERS WILL NOT BE ISSUED THIS SCHOOL YEAR.

PARENT PORTAL

Students and parents can keep track of their grades and attendance using the Infinite Campus parent and student accounts. Students can access their Infinite Campus account through the Clever application. Parents will need to download the Infinite Campus Parent Portal application to receive real-time grade and attendance notifications (Click here for instructions on creating your Parent Portal account). Homecoming 2022

Homecoming Game: Columbia vs. McNair - Friday, September 23, 2022, Avondale Stadium @ 7:30 pm

General Homecoming Information:

· Homecoming Theme: TBD

· Homecoming Spirit Week – September 19-23

· Official CHS Homecoming Royal Court campaigning will occur September 19-22nd

· All posters and social media information must first be approved by any members of the CHS homecoming committee or CHS Administration

Homecoming Court Eligibility Requirements

· Students are required to have a 2.5 GPA

· Students are required to be passing all current classes

· Students cannot have any behavioral referrals or suspensions this year.

· No more than three unexcused absences or tardies this semester

· Three Teacher Recommendations – Pick up from Ms. Greening or Ms. Lopez, due Mon. 9/12

· Make sure you have completed your bio (https://forms.gle/ytsAaeqQTA5n71sx7) - submitted to Ms. Greening by Monday, September 12

ALL required information and fees MUST be submitted by 3:00 pm on Monday September 12 – NO EXCEPTIONS. The failure to do so will result in disqualification without a refund.

Financial Expenses: The cost to run for grade level King and Queen, Mr. and Ms. Homecoming and Mr. and Ms. CHS is $100. For student organizations and athletic teams, the cost is $75.

Digital Dreamers

Chromebooks will be distributed in August. Parents and Students must sign the Parent and Student Agreement form before a chromebook can be distributed. Please click here to sign the form online.
