LVISD Monthly Character Trait...
How are you showing Citizenship? Read the Counselor's Corner to find out what students are learning about citizenship with Ms. Box.
Counselor's Corner
The character trait for January is Citizenship. This month classes are learning how to be good citizens at school, in their community, and at home. We have been discussing how good citizens follow rules and laws, do their part to make their school and community better, and cooperate with others. We have been playing a game called Koosh Ball to demonstrate how good citizens make things run more smoothly in all areas of our life. The Koosh Ball starts with one person and is tossed to another until it has been tossed to each person in the circle, then a second ball starts in the same order, then a 3rd ball is passed in the same order. The game eventually has 3 balls going at once. It is very chaotic when the kids are not being good citizens of the game, but turns out to be a ton of fun and works great when everyone begins to follow the rules and do their part to keep the balls going without touching the ground. When the game is over we have a group discussion of how it went and the importance of citizenship.
