Morning Drop-off Reminders

Don't forget that Civic Drive is a morning drop-off location after 7:30 am. Mr. Holt is there every morning to greet students. Please use caution when driving through the front parking lot in the mornings. Parents and students are walking across the parking lot and we want to make sure all of our students and parents are safe. Thank you for your help!

LVISD Monthly Character Trait...

January's Character Trait is Citizenship - Do your share to make your school and community better. Cooperate. Get involved in your community. Stay informed. Be a good neighbor. Obey laws and rules. Respect authority. Protect the environment. Volunteer.

How are you showing Citizenship? Read the Counselor's Corner to find out what students are learning about citizenship with Ms. Box.

Counselor's Corner

The character trait for January is Citizenship. This month classes are learning how to be good citizens at school, in their community, and at home. We have been discussing how good citizens follow rules and laws, do their part to make their school and community better, and cooperate with others. We have been playing a game called Koosh Ball to demonstrate how good citizens make things run more smoothly in all areas of our life. The Koosh Ball starts with one person and is tossed to another until it has been tossed to each person in the circle, then a second ball starts in the same order, then a 3rd ball is passed in the same order. The game eventually has 3 balls going at once. It is very chaotic when the kids are not being good citizens of the game, but turns out to be a ton of fun and works great when everyone begins to follow the rules and do their part to keep the balls going without touching the ground. When the game is over we have a group discussion of how it went and the importance of citizenship.

New Garden Items

Take a look at our garden when you drive by, you will notice that we have new benches and a composting bin. Jacob Hernandez, LVHS Senior and son of our own Mrs. Hernandez, thought of LVES when he was deciding on an Eagle Scout project. Jacob planned, designed, and organized the entire project. The work started over the winter break and will be finished over the next week. Check back next week for pictures of the completed project. Thank you Jacob!
