Class Placements for 2019-2020
The Purdy Staff will soon begin developing class lists for the upcoming school year. The task of placing all of our students is an enormous job and we take it very seriously. We must look at many factors such as student learning styles, academic records, girl/boy ratios, behavior and peer relationships, special programs, and parental input. Our goal is to place each child in a class in which he or she can be most successful while maintaining a balance within the class. Parents may participate in the process by requesting a Parent Input form from the office and talking with their child’s current teacher. Parent Input forms are due by April 30th. Staff assignments often change over the summer. Therefore, please do not name a specific teacher. For consideration, Parent Input forms must be received by April 30th. If you have any questions, please contact the office at 530-4600.
We appreciate your commitment to your child’s education and your continued support for our school community.

Robots first, Flying Cars Later. An Opinion Writing By: Gavin Diemer
Introduction
If you watch SCI-FI movies and TV shows, you may of heard of the concept of helper robots and Flying Cars. Most people in this school would rather have a Flying Car, but Robot Helpers would be superior in the end. This writing will explain my opinion about the two, while at the same time trying to convince you that Robotic Helpers are better in the long term.
Public Release
Most people in this classroom like cool cars, (Besides me.) and yes, the flying car is cool, but you will most likely never get one. Many people will most likely gloss over the fact that a flying car might cost millions of dollars just to own. Infact, a quick Google search reveals that a smaller version that can only fit three people will cost 1.5 million dollars. A Tesla today can cost up to 50,000 dollars, so you can definitely tell that the Flying Car will be much more expensive. A flying car will most likely be used only for the U.S government, Police, Firefighters, and Paramedics. But Robotic Helpers, however, will cost much less. Sure, Robotic Helpers will still be expensive, but they will most likely get a public release and you can own one. Although, it would cost around 20,000 dollars. Robotic Helpers can also be used by local businesses, while Flying Cars will be heavily limited.
Target Audience of Robotic Helpers
You may be wondering, “What can a Robot do to help me?” and “What if I use the Robot too much?” Well, I have the answer for you. Robotic Helpers can most likely be used for kids with special needs or learning disabilities (Or Disabilities in general), old people, people that have broken limbs or disabilities, Scientists, Kids in Children's Hospitals, Students and Teachers in Schools, people with emotional support, Police Officers, and Paramedics. The Robotic Helpers will most likely be modified when it comes to the audience. For example, if you need emotional support or if your a child with special needs, it may act more cheerful and optimistic. If you are a teacher in a school, The Robotic Helper may be modified to help teach the class.
If you don’t match any of the following, don’t worry, you can still probably buy one if it comes out, but it will most likely be modified to just be a helper around the house. In some cases, Robotic Helpers will be given out for free, for current audiences. But, if you DO buy a robotic helper, or if you bought one for your child, (if it gets a public release.) remember that you still need to do stuff around the house and let your child do chores. Just because you have a robot helper doesn't mean they can do everything in your house, and it also doesn’t mean for your child to just not do anything, since that can lead to them being a entitled person when they grow up.
Robotic Helpers saving lives
Now, I know you are reading the title and you’re thinking, “ ‘Saving lives? ‘ How can a robotic helper save lives?” Well, It may sound weird, but Robotic Helpers can save almost the exact same amount of lives. It might sound like a long shot, but just hear me out. A robotic helper can be programmed to know medical training, and if robotic helpers are numerous, they can save lives easily.
( I know that this part was quick and all, I just wanted to add it to show that robotic helpers can save lives incredibly easily with the right programming. )
Conclusion
So, that is my opinion about why I think robotic helpers are better than flying cars. I hope you enjoyed this draft. If you don’t agree with my opinion, that’s fine! I respect your opinion, and you should respect mine. Both robotic helpers and flying cars are helpful, I just think that robotic helpers are more helpful than flying cars. But either if you agree with me or not, why do you think that way? Is there stuff that I didn’t mention in this project? I want to hear your opinion about it!
