Wisconsin State Report Cards
November, 2021
Dear Dunwiddie Parents and Guardians,
Each year, the Department of Public Instruction generates a school report card and district report card for every publicly funded school and district in the state. The report cards are intended to help schools and districts use performance data to celebrate successes and improve their efforts to prepare students for their futures.
The current school report card is primarily based on last year’s performance during the 2020-21 school year. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, DPI encourages caution when interpreting scores and ratings on the 2020-21 report cards.
At the foundation of the report cards are four priority areas. Schools and districts receive a score for each priority area:
● Achievement - proficiency in English language arts (ELA) and mathematics on the annual state assessments
● Growth - year-to-year progress in ELA and math achievement
• Target Group Outcomes - outcomes for students with the lowest test scores: the Target Group.
• On-Track to Graduation - reliable predictors of how successfully students are progressing toward completing their K-12 education.
The priority area scores are aggregated into an overall accountability score, from 0 to 100. This score is displayed on the front page of the school or district report cards. It is important to note that the 0 to 100 accountability score is not a “percent correct” measurement. Based on its score, a school or district receives one of five rating categories, from Fails to Meet Expectations to Significantly Exceeds Expectations, as well as corresponding one to five stars.
Dunwiddie has received an overall score of 84.5 which is in the Significantly Exceeds Expectations category.
Here are some of Dunwiddie Elementary School’s strengths according to the report card:
· Achievement – Our Achievement score of 90.8 was the same or higher than 95.7% of K-5 schools in the state. Student achievement in both English/Language Arts and Math were significantly above the state average.
· On-Track to Graduation – The three factors that drive this section are chronic absenteeism, attendance, and 3rd grade English/Language Arts proficiency. In all three categories we are above the state average. Our score of 94.0 in this area is strong.
We are proud of our accomplishments in these areas and are celebrating our successes. As we reviewed the report card, we also identified areas we will focus our next steps on.
Here is an area Dunwiddie Elementary School will focus on for continuous improvement:
· Growth – Our Growth score of 66.0 is an area we will focus our attention on in the future.
This growth score is determined by our year-over-year achievement in English/Language Arts and math. With an achievement score that is higher than 95% of K-5 schools in the state, our challenge is continuing to move students to even higher levels of achievement each year.
Moving forward, our staff is focused on reviewing all student progress with more regularity and planning lessons that are specific to each student’s needs.
School and district report cards can be accessed online at http://dpi.wi.gov/accountability/report-cards along with resources that explain the report cards. I have included the report card for Dunwiddie Elementary School here as well (button below). Our school report card will also posted on our website.
Please let me know your thoughts and questions as they arise. I look forward to working with you to make 2021-22 a successful school year for your child!
Sincerely,
Joanna Bannon

Social emotional learning snapshot!
In SEL (Social Emotional Learning) Class, we have been learning about what bullying behavior is and how to respond to bullying situations. We are using the Second Step Bullying Prevention Unit Curriculum to teach each student to:
Recognize rude, mean, and bullying behaviors
Rude = Accidentally saying or doing something hurtful.
Mean = Saying or doing something to hurt a person on purpose, once or maybe twice.
Bullying = cruel behavior done on Purpose, there is repeated Pattern, and the bully has more Power (3 P’s).
***Note: Behavior definitions adopted from the book “The 8 Keys to End Bullying” by Signe Whitson.
Report bullying to a caring adult
Refuse to do a bullying behavior and to stop bullying happening themselves or others
Be a bystander who helps stop the bullying
And we need your help, too! Get involved in making our school a safe and respectful place by letting us know if you hear about bullying at our school. Make sure your child knows to tell you or someone at school if he or she is being bullied. And give your child the clear message that it is never okay to bully others.
If you have any questions about the Bullying Prevention Unit or the Second Step program, please contact me. For more information on our school’s anti-bullying policy and specific procedures, check our school website or contact the school office. Thank you for helping us make our school a safe, respectful place where everyone can learn.

Health & Safety
Please use the Student Illness Tracking Tool (button below) to determine if students should attend school. Please contact our office if your child is ill or if anyone in your household has tested positive for COVID-19.
Please remember:
- Students MUST quarantine if there is an individual within your household that has tested positive for COVID-19
- Students MUST quarantine if they exhibit COVID-19 symptoms (according to tracking tool below) unless/until they receive a negative test result, and you can provide those results to the school office or district nurse

If your child will at home in quarantine for an extended period of time, please contact your child's teacher directly about school work they can complete at home.
Throughout each school year, we conduct various school safety drills including fire, tornado, medical emergency, and danger/intruder (ALICE). Prior to each drill, teachers and students discuss what to do in the event of an emergency or dangerous situation.
