Full of Cheer This Time of Year!
This Week
Continuing with our food theme, we played in our grocery store dramatic play area by shopping, taking turns as cashier, and grouping foods by color! We also sorted hot and cold foods/drinks. In addition, we did several holiday crafts this week. At the fine motor center, we made poinsettias by tearing paper, wreaths with tissue paper, and snowballs out of balloons, felt, glue, and glitter. At the art center, we decorated ornaments with sequins, painted clothespins to create snowflakes, and even attempted to "elf" ourselves! During speech time, we selected different foods to put into the snowman and read interactive books about setting the table and using the bathroom. We also colored and read "I see __" Christmas books. A favorite activity was labelling various objects after pulling them out of the stocking!
During P.E., we watched yoga videos and mimicked the different poses! Other fun activities this week included getting messy with shaving cream, visiting Ms. Mary (and her fish, Pescado), and playing tag on the playground with our friends from Room 4. All of the kids did a wonderful job following directions and using quiet voices during the fire drill on Wednesday!
Next Week
One more week until break! Santa's Workshop is all set for toys to be made and presents to be wrapped in the dramatic play area. We will be having a PAJAMA PARTY with Room 4 on Thursday!! I will send out an email reminder later this week.
Hope that those celebrating Hanukkah enjoy the last few nights... Have a great weekend everyone!
