MRS. DETTMER'S NOTES

We are in full swing at Rockcreek with projects, field trips, and chainsaw art.

Special thanks to our Rockcreek Bulldog Boosters for all the Staff Appreciation Week sweet treats and special surprises. This staff works hard and they loved the extra attention this week.

If you volunteered to donate items for Field Day, you may begin sending those items to school. Thank you for contributing to this special day!

While we have less than three weeks remaining in the school year, we have MONTHS of learning to do! Thanks to our Rockcreek families for supporting our efforts in the final weeks.

Walkathon is coming! Walkathon is scheduled for Friday, May 20th. This is an exciting event for the students each year - music, walking, snow cones, and prizes! Thank you to all of our volunteers. A percentage of money raised will go towards purchasing the rock tunnel students voted on earlier in the year.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Rockcreek Yearbooks Available Now

Yearbooks are available in the office for $15 while supplies last. Don't miss out on a great year of memories!

4th Grade Wax Museum

Ms. Davis and Mrs. Giggy have been busy helping students prepare for their annual Wax Museum of Famous Hoosiers. What an amazing opportunity for our 4th graders to explore their research, writing and presentation skills while teaching our entire Rockcreek community about famous Hoosiers.

6th Grade Mythology

6th graders have been studying Greek mythology in language arts. They worked hard all week preparing plays and did an amazing job presenting them today!

Universal Design for Learning: Home Connection

Becoming an expert learner takes practice. Sticking to a tough task without losing focus or motivation can be difficult when academic tasks become more challenging. Helping our students develop a Growth Mindset, or a belief that they are a "work in progress" is a challenge we embrace.

Have you ever planted something and helped it grow? Some of us have a lot of experience with that and others don't, but fostering a Growth Mindset mentality is much like taking care of a garden. It takes patience and daily attention to encourage strong growth.

A special thank you to some sixth grade volunteers who spent recess pruning the butterfly garden next to the playground. As they worked, they named themselves the "Eco Club." It's a "thing" now so stay tuned for more!

Literacy Festival

Saturday May 14th, the Bartholomew County Literacy Task Force is sponsoring a FREE festival at Central Middle School from 12pm-3. Activities will include child appropriate entertainment, character costume competition and door prizes.
