FACILITIES UPDATE

Hurricane restoration efforts around our school campus are currently underway. Ceiling grids in the Cafeteria and Cafeteria hallway were replaced this week. The playground fences and the Wilson Street exterior awning are next on the list of items to be repaired. We will keep families posted on the restoration projects and let parents know if normal pick up, drop off or day-to-day operations will be interrupted by the construction. Thank you in advance for your patience as we work to repair our campus to pre-hurricane condition.

THIS MONTH'S VIRTUE IS R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Each month, PK-8th Grade students take a closer look at a different virtue and learn ways to extend these traits in a Christ-like manner. The virtue of Respect falls under the Cardinal Virtue of Justice. Respect enables us to speak and act according to our own and others' rights, status and circumstances. What are some ways we can be more respectful at school, at home and in our community?

RESPECT LOOKS LIKE:

  • Only saying nice things about your siblings and classmates
  • Not laughing at others
  • Listening the first time and discontinuing an action when someone asks you to stop
  • Listening attentively to others

RESPECT SOUNDS LIKE:
  • He is really good at….
  • It is not nice to laugh at people.
  • I will stop doing that.
  • Silence when someone else is speaking.

CLASSROOM AND SCHOOL NEWS

SPECIAL BLESSING

Father Rommel blessed all of the exterior doors leading into ICCS last Friday. May all the thresholds of our school building be a sacred place where we come to offer Christian hospitality. May God’s Angels stand guard at the right and left of our exterior doors to grace our comings and goings. 20+C+M+B+21

SCHOOL MASS HELD LAST WEEK

For the second time this school year, all PK-8th Grade students were able to safely social distance on the playground to celebrate the January Birthday Mass last Friday, January 15. Special thank to Father Rommel Tolentino and Father Sam Bond, along with our 7th Grade students and choir members for leading the Mass. Happy Birthday to everyone celebrating a Birthday this month!

COIN STACKING

Mrs. Anita Falcon’s 4th Grade students recently watched “Mystery Doug’s Awesome Challenges to Try in Science." They were intrigued by a coin stacking activity in the video. The students brought in extra change from home and gave it a try! The students thoroughly enjoyed this fun and educational activity.

PLANTING SEEDS

At the beginning of this school year, our 2nd Grade students learned about plant and animal relationships. They investigated 8 different types of seeds and were allowed to take them home and plant them. Katelyn Duhon planted her seeds in her backyard and they finally produced good "fruits." Great job, Katelyn! These radishes are ready to eat.

PRAYER AGAINST THE CORONAVIRUS

O Mary, you shine continuously along our journey as a sign of salvation and hope.

We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who at the Cross were near to the pain of Jesus, keeping your faith firm.

You, Salvation of the Roman people, know what we need, and we trust that you will provide for those needs so that, as at Cana of Galilee, joy and celebration may return after this moment of trial.

Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the will of the Father and to do what Jesus tells us, He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and took up our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen.

We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.
