Inspiration of the Week

"Thirty years ago my older brother, who was ten years old at the time, was trying to get a report on birds written that he'd had three months to write. It was due the next day. API Data indicates that Glenview is staying the course with 1 point of growth overall. English Learners showed nice growth with a 10 point gain. We will be looking at your class data this week at our staff meeting

Math Sample Unit 1

Please try to start dabbling with math sample unit by September 3. Bring your math sample units from training to our staff meeting on September 4th so that Andy can help us roll this out.


Operations

Monday Staff Meetings changed to 3rd Monday of the Month

This is accommodate OEA rep council meetings on the 2nd Monday of the month. First Monday meeting will be 9/16.

Dance Prep

Dance Prep will start the week of 9/9. Prep schedule will be in your box next week. If you have a concern re: your time please talk to Michelle. She tried to take all of your requests that were made at the Professional Development day and incorporate them into the new schedule (no easy task!).


Yard Duty Schedule

Thanks to Ms. Lemon and Ms. Morgan for coordinating the yard duty schedule. They have made some minor changes to increase coverage during morning recess.


Fifth Grade Marin Headlands Trip, Dec. 18-20

Let me know if you would be interested in chaperoning. We will need 7 adults (in addition to me!). Can you think of a better way to bring in the holidays than spending three days with children in the outdoors?


PTA Board Meetings- All grade levels need one rep.

Let me know if you are willing to volunteer to be your grade level PTA rep. You will need to attend 1-2 PTA board meetings a year. You can pick the month that will work best for you.


Current Reps:

Kindergarten: Need one rep.

1st grade: Sullivan (November)

2nd Grade: Salvatore (September)

3rd grade: Need one rep.

4th grade: Need one rep.

5th grade: Need one rep.

CELDT Testing

Thank you to Mr. Granda for stepping up to be our site CELDT coordinator this year. And thanks to Ms. Wong who has lead this for many years at Glenview.


Class Sizes

We are over enrolled in 1st Grade. I'm working with the district office to determine next steps. I will be in touch with the teachers who this effects. We will have this resolved by the end of next week.


Goodbye to Ms. Sessions

Ms. Sessions has been working in Mr. Granda's class, but has been offered a full time opportunity in Programs for Exceptional Children at another site. We will be hiring a new .5 Instructional Aide. I will let you know when that person join us.


Yoga Mats Needed

Please bring in that old yoga mat you have in the garage. You know the one you only used twice....Michelle Lewis is accepting donations of yoga mats for her dance classes.

I checked the OEA Contract and consulted with HR. The contract actually allows you to meet for up to an hour and 15 min on Mondays. We can start as soon as 10 min. after the end of the school day. Please plan for Monday meetings from 3-4 on the second Monday of the month.
