Revised calendar, Learning Model Selection form due 7/31
WHEN WILL SCHOOL START?
The first day of school for students will be August 31, 2020. The Richland Two Board of Trustees voted to approve a revised calendar at a special called board meeting on July 28, 2020. The calendar approved by the board is attached to this email.
Below are key dates for the start of the 2020-2021 school year.
- August 17-21: LEAP Days are designed to provide additional face-to-face instructional support for students in Pre-K through eighth grade prior to the start of the 2020-2021 school year. LEAP Days are to be used for face-to-face activities, assessments, or instruction to prepare for the opening of school. Parents and teachers will receive additional information about these new dates to the calendar.
- August 24-28: Teacher Work Days
- August 31: First day of school for students
IMPORTANT FORM FOR PARENTS TO COMPLETE
Parents we need your help! To create class rosters and schedules for the 2020-2021 school year, school administrators have to know what learning models each of our 28,000+ students will participate in during the three phases outlined in the Reopening Schools Plan. That's going to require a lot of work and parents we need your help. Please complete this very important Learning Model Selection Form by July 31.
Due to the pandemic, Richland Two will follow the district's Reopening Schools Plan for the 2020-2021 school year. Schools will follow the Phase 1 model while the overall disease activity rating for Richland County is high. We will move to Phase 2 when the overall disease activity rating for Richland County is medium and then Phase 3 will come when disease activity is low. The disease activity ratings are calculate by S.C. DHEC.

This selection form must be completed for each Richland Two student by a parent/guardian with the authority to make educational decisions for the student. By completing this form you help to make sure Richland Two can fully prepare for the 2020-2021 school year in the safest way possible and to ensure we provide all students with a high quality education throughout all phases.

SUMMER ANNUAL REGISTRATION NIGHTS
Parents, if you have not completed the online annual registration process, please do so as soon as possible. This online process includes providing proof of residence, verifying student information, and reviewing and completing forms. This information is important to our teachers and our schools and, this year more than ever, it is vital to the process of reopening our schools.
If you need help completing online registration, please schedule an appointment for one of the upcoming annual registration nights: August 5.
