D47 Parent University
The Winter 2020 D47 Parent University event will be held Tuesday, February 4, 2020 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Lundahl Middle School, 560 Nash Rd. in Crystal Lake. Prairie Ridge High School counselor Missy Berg will discuss how technology and parenting strategies are affecting our kids' generation, known as Generation Z or iGen. Parents will learn how to help their children develop healthy peer and adult relationships, improve communication, cope and manage emotions, and increase self-efficacy/confidence. This is a free event for ALL District 47 parents. The presentation will be available in both English and Spanish. Childcare/kids’ activities will be provided for kids ages 3 and up by licensed District 47 staff. Children must be toilet-trained. To register, go to Winter 2020 Parent University Registration.

About the presenter: Missy Berg, LCPC, has been a counselor at Prairie Ridge High School for the past 13 years and was a counselor at Mundelein High School before coming to District 155. Prior to being a high school counselor, Mrs. Berg worked in community mental health at a behavioral health hospital and in private practice. She has an undergraduate degree in psychology from Hope College and a master's degree in counseling from Indiana University.
Valentine's Day Party Guidelines
We are looking forward to having our Valentine's Day class parties on Friday, February 14th. Since it's an early release day and students will be dismissed at 2 p.m., the parties will start at 1 p.m. Special thanks to all the parents that will be planning, organizing and preparing for those parties.
As a reminder, based on the District 47 guidelines, the only food allowed at parties is to be ordered through Sodexo. This includes student valentines; therefore, please do NOT send any candy to school with student valentine cards. We appreciate your cooperation in this regard.

Kindergarten Dual Language Meetings
Informational meetings about District 47's Dual Language program will be held for parents who have an incoming kindergarten student for the 2020-2021 school year. Information regarding the program, as well as the Lottery Selection Process will be shared. If you are interested in placing your child into the program, attendance is required at one of these meetings. The meetings will be held at the CORE Center, 300 Commerce Drive in Crystal Lake, on the following dates:
