Gator Spotlight!

* ORS exited Program Improvement (PI) in 2015!
* ORS had the highest attendance for Downey Unified elementary schools for the
2014-2015 school year.
* 2014 CBEE (Campaign for Business and Education Excellence) Honor Roll recipient.
* For 2014-2015 school year, 69% of our 4th graders were reading in the 4th grade band,
Level Q, or above.
* For 2014-2015 school year, 66% of our 5th graders were reading in the 5th grade band,
Level T , or above.
* Old River School is the back to back (2014 & 2015) Carnival of Champions winners.
* ORS students outperformed the State average in both ELA and Math for fourth and
fifth grade on the 2014-2015 SBAC Test.

School Wide Gator Goals

1. Sixty percent of our students will be in the "Met" and "Exceeded" levels on the English
Language Arts (ELA) Smarter Balanced Assessment.
2. The number of students scoring "At" or "Near" the standard and above in ELA
Claims 1(Reading) and 3 (Listening) will increase by 10%.
3. 100% of all students will show measurable growth in DORA and on their Running
Records. 80% of our students will "Meet" or "Exceed" the appropriate reading
benchmark expectation.

Gator Next Steps...

* We recognize that at least 30% of our students are not reading at grade level.
* We commit to students knowing where they are and where they need to be. We have
collective responsibility to helping students understand their personal academic goals.
* Students will continue to set reading goals throughout the year.
