Principal’s Message
The Cold Springs Family would like to wish everyone a very Happy and Healthy New Year!
As we prepared to close out 2018, we did so with many activities. The month of December is always a busy time, with this year being no exception. Second and Third Grade students from Ms. Kumple’s class walked to GHS to participate in the Hour of Code. Crazy Hair Day was the Spirit Day for this month. Students arrived with many unusual hairstyles and colors on this day. Lions International was here the following week for free eye screenings for all students; student members of the Leo Club from GHS were also here to assist. In all, over 800 students were screened.
Third Grade students in Ms. S. MacDonald’s, Ms. Widen’s, MS. Formiglia’s and Ms. Uhlendorf’s classes entertained students, family and friends with their performance of “Toys: The Night They Come Alive” on Wednesday evening, December 12. The cafetorium was filled with family and friends and everyone seemed to enjoy the program. Our thanks to Mrs. Linda Lorenz, for her music direction and Mrs. Donna Glinos, (with the help of CSS students) for their art decorations. Congratulations on a fine performance!
Our PTO sponsored and ran Santa’s Secret Shop. Students from every class, Preschool through Grade Three were able to participate and do some holiday shopping for friends and family. Santa visited the entire school on Wednesday and Thursday the following week. Mid marking period ended on the 14th. Teachers updated their grades at that time. Once again, I remind all parents to routinely review your child’s grades on the parent portal of Power School.
While returning to a new year, we look forward to many more special events and activities.
The CSS PTO will be selling merchandise books for their fundraiser this month. This will begin on January 2 and run through through January 15. On Thursday, January 17, class pictures will be taken by LifeTouch Photographers. January’s Spirit Day follows on the 18th. We are introducing a new theme this year, Disney Day. All students and staff are encourage to dress as their favorite Disney Character. Also on this day, Preschool students will be treated to the Yosi Music Assembly. Kindergarten Parent Involvement is scheduled for January 22-25. Kindergarten students will invite a VIP to visit with them in their classroom. Kindergarten students will also be presented with an assembly program, “The Magic of Reading” on Wednesday, January 23.
As always with special events, more detailed information will be provided as we approach these dates.
Take a look at our NEW School Sign! We are very appreciative of having this new sign installed, making it possible to keep everyone up to speed on many more important notifications.
Please remember that school will be closed on January 21 in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his work.
The second marking period comes to a close on January 29, 2019. Final grades for this marking period will be posted shortly after.
The Positive Character trait for January is: Friendship
As we move into a new year, I look forward to working with you and am appreciative of your support on behalf of our students.
