To My Adams Family,

I want to thank all of you for your generosity. Your gift helped me be able to get my treatment. It is appreciated more than you will ever know!

Thank You,
Karen V.

Room Keys and Locked Doors

If you do not have keys to your classroom, please contact Mrs. Ramirez. Every teacher should have room keys. We must begin keeping our classroom doors locked at all times. This is very important given all of the entrances to the building, and we also do not want to provide hiding places for students who decide they do not want to go to class. By Thursday, we should be keeping all classroom, lab, and storage doors locked at all times.

Tutoring and Tutoring Logs

Plan to bring your tutoring schedule with you to the faculty meeting. We need to be sure that we are all on the same page and are avoiding scheduling conflicts with our after school tutoring.

Absences and calling in

When you need to take an unplanned absence, please notify Dr. Holmgreen as soon as possible. When notices are received after 6:30 a.m., it becomes increasingly more difficult to obtain substitute teachers.

PDAS Observations

This is your last reminder regarding your PDAS observations. If you have not schedule yours, you should send your request to your PDAS observer no later than Monday afternoon. If you have not set up a date and time by then, expect your observer to show up at any time. Remember, we just want to see good teaching, not something you would not ordinarily be doing.

Student Behavior

Some of our students are becoming a bit rowdy in the hallways. Please remind them of proper behavior as per our PBIS procedures. Let's work together to maintain orderly passing periods and transitions to the cafeteria. If possible, we need our math and ELAR teachers to stand near their door during the passing periods. You do not have to come into the hallway, but be where you can see into the hallway and also watch your class. This will help us tremendously, as there are portions of the hallway that can go unmonitored during some passing periods.

Please continue to help us monitor after school as well. As mentioned in an email to everyone, we can see how our presence is a deterrent to fighting and misbehavior.

And finally, please continue your Olweus lessons and talk to your students about their choices. Talk to them about choosing not to participate in the spreading of rumors. The administrators have spent a tremendous amount of time talking to students, investigating bullying, changing schedules, designating alternate routes to classes for students, and separating students to prevent conflicts. We have to continue our efforts to help them make better choices. Your help is appreciated.

Grades

Please be sure to follow the district guidelines for grades. You should be recording two grades in the grade book each week.

Every Minute Matters at WAMS

In a previous newsletter, you were informed about an attendance initiative that is just about as easy as it can get. All you have to do is remember to give each student a Coyote Buck for showing up to your class. If you have block classes, you have to remember to give one to students for each part of the block. Remind students to turn them in when they go to lunch for a chance to win various prizes.

You will find a poster in your mailbox to post outside your door or in some highly visible place as a reminder for students that every minute matters.
