BARBER BULLETIN
March 25-29 Creating Joyful Leaders and Learners
ARTS DAY!
When we look for our children’s strengths, we build their confidence. We empower them by encouraging and supporting their interests, or simply letting them know we believe in them. All children need at least one person who is crazy about them. Let’s let our children know we see their genius. It occurred to me as I visited the steel drums, the author visit, the make up artist, and even the percussionist and mosaic artist, that our children's genius may be discovered in the arts!
As Ralph Waldo Emerson’s quote goes, “Who you are speaks so loudly I can't hear what you're saying.” As such, I am so proud of our Global team for offering ARTS DAY year after year. By investing in the arts, we speak loudly about our values as a school to our community.
Developing the whole person means nurturing our children academically, but also nurturing their body, heart, and soul. Their social and emotional education is as important as their academic education. I heard this over and over again at the recent conference I attended.
Providing opportunities for our children to be on teams, to join clubs, to try new things, and to learn critical life skills such as social etiquette, public speaking, and creative problem solving develops their social and emotional skills. We want to develop healthy and resilient children— children who take care of themselves physically, who have quality relationships, and who have a sense of purpose in life. I can't help but wonder with enthusiasm that many of our students may very well find their purpose in the arts. How sweet that would be?
It's time to Nominate a Grade Level Turnaround Student
Write ups are due March 27 to K.Barber. Click HERE for the document. Remember to make a copy! It's also important to share (5) photos of the child for the presentation celebration!
Our Assistant Principals will contact parents by Friday, March 29 to notify them that their child is being recognized!
Turnaround Students will be recognized before our chorus program begins on Tuesday, April 2 at the district auditorium! We will reserve seating for our Turnaround Students and their families.
